Osmania University offers admissions at three levels: undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral. Osmania University admission is both entrance and merit-based. For some courses such as B.A, B.Sc., and B.Com, marks in the qualifying exam will be considered for Osmania University admissions whereas, for B.Com (Hons), the university conducts an entrance test. OU admissions to B.PEd. are made by the TS PECET. Admission to Osmania University in B.Ed is offered based on merit in TS Ed. Cet. Osmania University admissions to PG programmes are based on the performance of candidates in the entrance test- CPGET conducted by the university. 

Candidates who are desirous of taking OU admission in PhD programmes must note after meeting the eligibility criteria they need to appear for PhD. Eligibility Test in which they wish to pursue PhD and the final Osmania University PhD admissions are made by the PhD committee.

Admissions to postgraduate and postgraduate diploma programmes are offered based on the performance of candidates in CPGET. Therefore, candidates must appear for CPGET. • Candidates who are willing to appear for the Common Post Graduate Entrance Test (CPGET) must meet the eligibility criteria.

• The result of CPGET is released in an online mode. candidates who want to check the CPGET result can download the rank card through the web portal of Osmania University.

Osmania University Ph.D. Admission Process  

• Candidates willing to take admission in Ph.D. at Osmania University must fulfil the course requirements prescribed by the university.

• Eligible candidates need to appear for Ph.D. Eligibility Test in the subject they wish to pursue Ph.D.

• Candidates awarded a research fellowship, either through a national-level test conducted by national-level organizations such as UGC / CSIR / ICAR / ICMR/ DBT or by a national-level organization (such as DST-INSPIRE fellowship) or Teacher Fellowship applicants subject to clearance by the Dean, C.D.C., O.U. OR  qualified in the UGC-NET/ CSIR-NET/ SET-TS/AP /JEST /GATE/ GPAT Examination are exempted from the Ph.D. Eligibility Test.

• Candidates will be shortlisted based on their performance in the Eligibility Test and will be notified for an interview. Also, they need to submit a research proposal.

• The final selection will be made based on the Ph.D. Eligibility Test, interview, verification of documents and payment of the fees.
