Batch of 2018 | B.Tech Civil Engineering
The permanent campus is still under construction which was designed by Japanese and German architects. It is expected to be completed by 2020. it is designed as a smart campus having a radiant cooling system, own power generation, and water harvesting. Once constructed, it is going to have the best infrastructure in India. It is also going to be a green campus, by minimizing it's power consumption and having a water treatment plant for it's own consumption. Though is has started late, it is presently ranked 7 in the National Institutional Ranking Framework published by Ministry of Human Resource Development in April 2016.. It's cutoff points for entrance in more than any other new IITs. It is presently mentoring the new IIT Bhilai. Students from IIT Bhilai come to IIT Hyderabad for learning solid edge 3D printing. We are giving an excellent exposure to industry and research through projects.Apart from the regular Btech program, it is progressing very rapidly in research. Professors encourage us to take up projects related to research and industries. If interested, Btech students can also publish research papers under the professor's guidance. Every professor holds on an average of 4 PhD students. It's collaboration with Japan enable students to take higher education at the Japanese Institutions. Apart from the routine programs, it also provides on-campus coaching for CAT and GRE, encouraging its students for higher education. It also provides workshops, for students all around the country under the programs like GIAN (Global initiative of Academic Networks) and so on. It also encourages the cultural activities by maintaining various clubs such as dance club, music club, drama club, literary club, arts club and many others. It has an excellent gym, giving importance to the fitness also. It presents two major cultural and technical fests of Hyderabad, ELAN and NVISION which includes workshops, extra moral lectures, live concerts ,cultural performances, social cause, technical exhibitions, paper presentations and so on.

Our college though it is located far from the city , it has a great infrastructure with excellent classrooms. our college provides us with a lot of internships and many industrial visits. my college experience is awesome because we are not compelled to study but also we have a lot of cultural and technical events being conducted in our college.I did not attend any interview. I think the transport facility to the college could be improved and the food prices in the mess.

Batch of 2017 | B.Tech Civil Engineering
1. As the new campus is still under construction, the facilities provided are good enough to manage. 2. A very good exposure to research field. Contacts with different universities around the world and many government funded projects undertaken by professors. 3. The only problem is I think that the campus is in outskirts of the city and thus very difficult to purchase stuff. The canteen inside the campus is not good and undergraduates are not allowed to have any motor vehicles also. 4. Placements for CS and electrical is good. For other branches it is still in a struggling period. 5. Regarding affordability, college provide scholarship to financially backward students. There are around 3 different scholarship.

The past four years of my life have given me greater visions of my future. I see IIT hyderabad as holding a large book with many unread chapters and myself as an eager child who has just learned to read. I intend to read and probe into all the chapters. IITH offers me more than the great reputation of this fine school, but a large student body with diverse likes and dislikes, and many activities, both academic and non-academic, to participate in. With the help of IITH, I will be successful and be able to make a name and place for myself in our society.

CAMPUS LIFE -Gender ratio is very poor. Very few girls will be there here similar to many IITs. Its a campus where one can gain enough knowledge. Unlike the other colleges, it doesn't have any groups and disputes or regional gangs or feelings or disputes. Almost all the students in the college are well decent and their main motto is to have good knowledge on their studies. There is no racial discrimination even by the staff. The best thing is that there are no politics in the campus. If any student is found to be misbehaved or reason for any dispute he /she will be suspended for a few days which is obviously a bad remark in their conduct certificate. PLACEMENT -Placements are good and companies compete to choose the candidates with good packages Almost 95% of my batch got placed in some or the other companies some in electronics and some in software. Here is the list of companies that i remember :1.Redpine signals (6.25 l per annum)2.Analog semi (6.28 l per annum)3.Qualcomm (8.25 l per annum)4.Digicomm (8.25 l per annum)5.Intel (8.25 l per annum)6.Analog semi (6.28 l per annum)7.Broadcom (9.5 l per annum)8.Analog devices (10 l per annum)Few other software companies that i remember:1.Amazon (12 l per annum)2.Flipkart (11.25 l per annum)3.TCS (6.5 l per annum)4.Mahindra (4.25 l per annum). HOSTEL FACILITIES -The hostel rooms are very neat and the best part is the food. You love the food in the hostel. Its very hygienic and they provide a very good healthy and hygienic food. There are 2 sharing rooms in the hostel and as the hostel seats will be provided to all the admitted candidates. And it is mandatory to stay in their hostel as the campus is located very far from the city. Not only here most of the IITs and NITs would prefer the students to stay in their hostels. Regarding the safety of the hostel its highly secured and the lab and library are opened 24*7. So students can feel very secure as there will be continuously monitored by the security inside the campus.Food and safety wise our hostels are th...

General Information

About College: The Indian Institute of Technology in Hyderabad (IITH) was established in 2008. During the Eleventh 5- year plan, it was realized that there was a requirement to extend the number of elite institutions in the country. This included the IITs as well whose number till then was miniscule. Thus, 8 new IITs were established, while IT-BHU was upgraded to the IIT status. These new IITs have over a period of time gained in reputation and are fast closing the gap on the top incumbents. Lakhs of students from all over the country enrol themselves over countless hours of coaching classes in order to secure a seat at the IITs. These new IITs are in – Bhubaneshwar, Rupnagar, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Indore, Jodhpur, Patna and Mandi. A further few IITs have opened up later, known popularly as the ‘Baby IITs’. Securing a seat at the IITs is done through a rigorous selection process involving the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). This is the largest entrance exam in the country in terms of numbers and possibly amongst the largest in the world. This paper is given by more than 12 lakh people annually. It is a 3- hour exam worth 90 marks constituting 3 segments with equal weightage. Those segments are- Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics. The best of the performers, totaling roughly 2 lakhs of them are further shortlisted for the JEE Advanced which is for selection to the IITs. The JEE Advanced is conducted over 2 rounds on the same day. The morning paper which runs from 9 am till noon is followed by a break and then another 3 hour one. The pattern however is not so well understood as the marks pattern is not clearly defined. It keeps changing annually. Admissions to the master’s level programmes is via the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering). The IITH was initially housed in a temporary location before moving to its present 576- acre one in phases beginning in 2011. The campus in the Telangana state is known for its particular emphasis on a sustainable architecture which fuels carbon neutrality. A number of courses are run from this campus. There are several areas from which to pursue the 4- year B. Tech programme which are in – Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics & Computing, Biotechnology, Engineering Science, Computer Science & Engineering and Materials Science & Metallurgical. One may also pursue a BSc. in Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics. In addition, there are multiple master’s level, dual degree, integrated, research and doctoral programmes as well. There is a lot of focus here on Liberal Arts and Design for which there is even a separate school. An M. Tech catering specifically to working professionals is also offered here.  IITH has been extremely proactive when it comes to stitching foreign alliances. In particular, the institute has focused heavily on and cracked deals in Japan. There is the FRIENDSHIP (Future Researchers at IITH to Enhance Network Development with Scholarship) tie that has been inked. This gives access to exchange of intellectual ideas with more than 20 universities in Japan. Some of those part of this unique consortium are- University of Tokyo, Hokkiado University, Kyushu University, Kyoto University, Nagoya University, Osaka University, Waseda University and Shizuoka University. Students of IITH can study in Japan as part of this arrangement. The IITH has also set up separate centres of excellence for different disciplines. These are research areas to develop solutions for industries and government bodies. There are centres for – Healthcare Entrepreneurship, Design Innovation, Teaching Learning, Cyber Physical Systems & IoT, Fabless Chip Design Incubator and the i-TIC Foundation. There is also much focus on social initiatives such as the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) under which villages get adopted by some of the premier educational institutes in the country, who in turn will work for the former’s welfare. This focus on academics and other social objectives have helped the IIT- Hyderabad to rack up high rankings across several indexes. It found itself on 9th position among engineering colleges and 22nd overall as part of the NIRF (National Institutional Rankings Framework) mechanism. The highly- acclaimed QS World University Rankings places IIT- Hyderabad at rank 196th in Asia and 100th among the BRICS nations. Life at IITH though isn’t only about academics and research. There, is a lot of fun to be had through the various student activities. The gymkhana here is particularly well- stocked. The institute hosts an annual techno- cultural fest known as Elan & n-Vision, which is an amalgamation of two previously separate events. The institute may not be too old, but it has already created a vibrant alumni network. The alumni committee is in constant touch with the past students, improving the connect on a constant basis. This has helped generate top- notch placements for the present batches. Some of the recent years’ recruiters include- Qualcomm, Microsoft, Flipkart, DE- Shaw, Oracle, ISO, Goldman Sachs, BPCL, HPCL, Vedanta, Renault- Nissan, L&T, Accenture, Samsung, Maruti Suzuki, Yahoo Japan, Walmart Labs, Rakuten, MediaTek, TCS, Bombardier, Honeywell, CDoT and Tesco among others.
