Department of Polymer Science and Rubber Technology at Cochin University of Science and Technology, Ernakulam, Kerala, offers undergraduate (B.Tech), postgraduate (M.Tech), and doctoral programs (Ph.D) in different areas of specialization under polymer science and technology. It covers a range of courses on polymer science and rubber technology.

The admission process for this department usually commences in the months of December or January followed by entrance examinations in April or May. For undergraduate admission, CUSAT conducts its own Common Admission Test (CUSAT CAT). For M.Tech programs:

  • Appear for the GATE examination.

  • Register and apply through the CUSAT website when applications open.

  • Submit GATE scores and other required documents.

  • If shortlisted, appear for any additional departmental tests or interviews.

For Ph.D. programs:

  • Check for Ph.D. admission notifications on the CUSAT website (usually in January-March).

  • Apply for the Departmental Admission Test (DAT).

  • Appear for the DAT conducted in May/June.

  • If successful, attend interviews or additional selection processes as required.

Given that the admission procedure will take place, the applicants must ensure that they regularly visit the official CUSAT site to grab the newest updates on the application deadline, exam date, and admission procedure.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Tech in Polymer Science and Technology:
A 4-year undergraduate program with an intake of 20 students. The admission to this program will be based on the performance in the CUSAT CAT conducted by the university in April/May. Registration to appear for this exam begins in December/January.

M.Tech in Polymer Science and Technology:
This master's degree program is of 2 years duration and accommodates 10 students at a time.

Doctoral Programs:
The department offers several specialized Ph.D. programs, such as Polymer Nanocomposites; Conducting Polymers; Adhesives and Coatings; Biomaterials for Tissue Engineering and Drug Delivery Applications; and much more. Admission into Ph.D. programs is via a Departmental Admission Test (DAT) conducted in May/June to which students must apply usually from January through March.

Required documents for the application process generally include:

  • Completed application form

  • Passport size photographs

  • Mark sheets and certificates of qualifying examinations

  • GATE score card (for M.Tech applicants)

  • Category certificates (if applicable)
