The EWS quota, that is the quota for Economically Weaker Sections has been applied as a reservation quota beginning from session 2019-20 by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
About 5200 seats have been increased in State Government Aided Society run colleges for economically weak sections of the society out of which 450 seats have been increased in West Bengal.
