Hi aspirant,

To pursue marine biology, you must have a graduate degree in a related field. Marine biology is a specialized postgraduate course that can be done after graduation. You can not pursue marine biology after 10+2.

Follow these steps to get eligible:

  • Complete your 10+2 (higher secondary) schooling with physics, chemistry, and biology (PCB) with above  60%  of marks.
  • After completion, take admission in a reputable college for a BSc in biology.
  • After completion of your 3-year undergraduate degree, you can apply for an MSc. In marine biology

Here are the reputed colleges in India that offer marine biology for undergraduate students

Top universities and colleges

  1. Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kerala
  2. The National Institute of Oceanography, Goa
  3. Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu
  4. Goa University, Goa

The CEE brochure states candidates must pass 10+2 in one sitting without grace marks and clear both theory and practical. I failed Math but was overall passed as Physical Education replaced it. I later cleared Math in an improvement exam. Does this affect my eligibility for CEE?

kumardurgesh1802 8th Feb, 2025

Hello there,

Your eligibility for CEE depends on how the exam authorities interpret the "one sitting" rule. Here’s how your case aligns with the given conditions:

  1. 10+2 in One Sitting :

    • Since you initially failed Mathematics but passed overall due to Physical Education replacing it, your original 12th result was considered "pass."

    • However, since you later cleared Mathematics in an improvement exam , it might be considered as a separate sitting , which could affect your eligibility if strict one-sitting criteria apply.

  2. Theory & Practical Passed :

    • If your improvement exam marksheet clearly shows a pass in both theory and practical subjects , and no grace marks were used to qualify, this may still keep you eligible.

      What You Should Do:
  • Check with the CEE Conducting Authority : Since this is a specific case, contact the official exam authorities for confirmation.

  • Refer to Past Cases : If similar candidates have been accepted before, that might help determine your chances.

  • Provide Both Mark Sheets During Verification : If required, explain your situation and provide proof of clearing Mathematics.
