good afternoon ,the top Engineering Colleges in Pune ( after COEP, MIT-WPU, VIT) are :

PICT (Pune Institute of Computer Technology)    Known for CSE & IT, excellent coding culture, strong alumni network

AIT (Army Institute of Technology)    Great placements, especially in CS/IT; only for wards of army personnel

CCOEW (Cummins College of Engineering for Women)    Women-only college, strong in CS & ECE, good ROI

PCCOE (Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering)    Decent placements, good industry exposure

DY Patil College of Engineering    Popular private college, good infra, moderate placements

AISSMS College of Engineering    NAAC A+ accredited, decent placement, central location

IIIT Pune    Government-backed, strong in CS & ECE, high ROI

IIIT (International Institute of Information Technology)    Focused on IT & CS, good ROI

If you're targeting Computer Science or IT, PICT, IIIT Pune, and Cummins are excellent.

For ROI, GCOEARA (Govt. College of Engineering & Research, Avasari) is unbeatable with low fees and decent placements.

If you're looking for campus life + academics, MIT-WPU and VIT still lead, but AIT and PCCOE offer good balance

With 70% marks in your Maharashtra boards exams and a 99.89 percentile in MHT CET, you have a very strong  chance of getting admission into top branches likecomputer  Science, AI, or E&TC at COEP Pune. The college accepts admissions mainly through the MHT CET state quota, and your percentile is well above the usual cutoff for most popular branches. Your board percentage also meets the eligibility criteria admission. Make sure to participate in the CAP counselling round  and fill COEP as your top choice to increase your chances. Based on previous  trends, your chances look excellent.

Yes, it is possible to get into COEP's CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) branch as an SC (Scheduled Caste) category student. However, the specific percentile or rank required will vary each year based on the number of applicants and their performance,

Factors to Consider:

Cutoffs:

COEP's CSE branch is highly competitive, and cutoffs for the SC category are generally lower than the general category, but still competitive.

MHT CET Score/Rank:

The MHT CET score or rank you obtain will be a key factor in your admission.

Seat Availability:

The number of seats available for the SC category in COEP's CSE branch also influences the cutoff.

Other Factors:

Factors like the number of applicants and their overall performance in the MHT CET will also affect the cutoff.

How to Determine Your Chances:

1. Check Previous Years' Cutoffs:

Review past MHT CET cutoffs for COEP's CSE branch for the SC category. This will give you an idea of the range of scores/ranks that have been accepted in the past.

2. Consult with COEP:

Contact COEP directly or check their website for the most up-to-date information on admission criteria and cutoffs for the current year.

3. Seek Expert Advice:

If you have specific percentile or rank in mind, you can seek guidance from educational counselors or experts who can assess your chances based on past trends and your individual profile.

With a 95.46 percentile in MHT CET 2025 as an Outside Maharashtra candidate , admission to COEP Pune and PICT Pune is very unlikely , even in lower-demand branches.

Both colleges have high cutoffs for OMS candidates, usually above 97 to 99 percentile , especially for Computer Science and IT.

You should consider other top private colleges in Pune or Mumbai like MIT WPU , PCCOE , or DY Patil , where your percentile can get you a good branch.

Participate actively in all counselling rounds, including spot rounds, for better chances.

With 90.76% and NT-C category, your chances for admission in COEP (College of Engineering, Pune) depend on your MHT CET percentile, not just board percentage. COEP has high cutoffs, so if your CET score is strong, you may get admission under category quota.

For COEP Pune, top branches like CSE, AI, or ECE require around 99+ percentile even for defence quota. So at 95.99, these aren't realistic.

However, you still stand a good chance for branches like Civil, Mechanical, or Manufacturing in COEP through the defence quota. These usually close around the 94–96 percentile mark for defence candidates.

In short, aiming for Civil or Mechanical at COEP is the practical move. It’s still a great college and these branches offer solid placements.

hi,

COEP Pune mein admission ke liye agar aap PCM group se ho to aapko JEE Mains ya MHT CET ke through apply karna hota hai. MHT CET ke basis par admission lene ke liye top branches jaise Computer Science ke liye aapko lagbhag 99+ percentile chahiye hota hai. Thoda niche branches ke liye 97 to 98 percentile tak bhi chance hota hai. Agar aapka percentile 96 se kam hai to COEP mein admission milna thoda mushkil ho jata hai, especially open category ke liye.

You are 95.99 percentile puts use slightly below general cut-off, but defence quota riser chance. Realistic option, civil manufacturing methodology may be mechanical. Higher branches such as electrical instrumentation, ENTC robotics CSE or unlike branches that you will not get.

hi,

With a JEE Main rank of around 35,000 in the EWS category, getting admission into COEP (College of Engineering Pune) or WCE (Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli) for Computer Science is quite difficult. These colleges usually have much better ranks for CSE seats — for example, last year the cutoff rank for EWS at COEP was below 6,000, and at WCE it was even lower.

However, you can still try for other branches like Electronics or IT where the cutoff might be higher. Also, keep an eye on the counselling rounds because sometimes cutoffs go down if seats remain vacant. It’s a good idea to look at other good colleges too, where your rank stands a better chance.

Yes, you can appear for JEE Mains 2026 even with 70% in your 12th boards . According to the eligibility criteria for JEE Mains, the minimum required percentage in the 12th board exams is generally 75% (for General category students) or 65% (for SC/ST students). However, this requirement is for admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs through JEE Mains .

For other private colleges or some government colleges that take JEE Mains scores but don't follow the NIT/IIIT/GFTI criteria , you might still be able to get admission with a 70% in your 12th board.

Regarding IIITs or VJTI and COEP Pune :

  • IIITs : These institutes typically require a 75% or more in the 12th boards to be eligible for JEE Mains and counseling. If you don't meet the eligibility in 12th boards but still wish to pursue an engineering degree, you can focus on clearing JEE Mains with a good rank to increase your chances in counseling.

  • VJTI (Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute) , Mumbai: VJTI generally follows the Maharashtra State Quota system, which also considers MHT-CET scores. Your JEE Mains score will still be relevant for all India counseling , but MHT-CET and 12th marks (as per state rules) play a significant role.

  • COEP (College of Engineering Pune) : COEP typically requires a Maharashtra domicile and the MHT-CET exam score. However, the JEE Main score is accepted for some other seats, and your 12th board percentage might not be a barrier to appear for JEE Mains 2026 . You can still aim for good marks in JEE Mains and appear in the All India quota or through other eligibility criteria for various colleges.

Suggested Actions:

  1. Appearing for JEE Mains 2026 : Focus on JEE Mains 2026 preparation to achieve a competitive rank that may improve your chances at IIITs, VJTI, or COEP.

  2. MHT-CET : Since you are from Maharashtra, appearing for MHT-CET will be an advantage in securing a seat in VJTI and COEP through the Maharashtra state quota.

  3. Improving your 12th Marks : If you have the option to improve your 12th percentage (through supplementary exams or retakes), it might help to meet the eligibility for IIITs .
