Dear Student,
When comparing CS with IT in India, I don't believe there is a significant difference in the syllabus. In contrast to CS students, IT students must study practically every subject. OS, Algo, DS, SP, and computer networks are a few examples.
The primary distinction between these two academic specialisations in foreign universities is that computer science students primarily concentrate on the technical aspects of software and their programming while IT students focus more on the selling of software products and gaining their knowledge in that field.
So, instead of choosing CS or IT by name in engineering institutions in India, consider the calibre of the teachers in each discipline before making a decision. If not, they will simply verify your knowledge and choose you based on it when there are campus placements, whether you are an IT student or a student of computer science.

Hello,
Practically speaking, NIT Jalandhar is much better than GNDU in regards to placements and MS/PhD opportunities. If I would be in your position, I would definitely choose NIT Jalandhar even if I don't get Computer Science. Because, in tier-1 universities, one can seat for IT companies even if they are from Core branches.
However, you can go through the college information and decide according to you at the end:
1. NIT Jalandhar

2. GNDU

Dear aspirant,
It is quite difficult to predict the closing rank because it varies every year depending on what the interests and preferences of the students are.
We can to some extent go by the previous year trends to get an idea.
The closing rank for homestate for general category is around 1 L.
This rank has gone up to 7.9 L in special rounds .
For more info on cutoff please check the link below
For getting more idea about what possibilities you have based on your rank please check the college predictor linked below.
Hey there!
Well it is hard to predict about the colleges as admission to these institutes depends on various factors like:
1- Difficulty level of examination
2- No. of students appeared in exam
3- No. of seats available in institutes
4- Rank of candidate
5- Closing rank of programs
However we can get a rough idea of seat allocation by analyzing previous years trend.
---With 81 percentile and assuming your OPEN category, your rank would be anywhere in between 194370 - 218500, as per our JEE mains rank predictor tool
https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-rank-predictor
Also according to previous years data, the maximum closing rank at various NITs for general category for CS and IT program is around 6000-12000 considering home state quota.

Hello Aspirant,
See it is quite difficult to tell you an exact figure of your percentile and rank because it keeps on changing every year depending upon various factors but yes we can help you with approximate figures on the basis of analysis of previous year's data.
So If we go through the analysis of marks Vs Percentile Vs rank for JEE-Main 2021 then according to the marks mentioned by you in the question your percentile and OBC rank are expected to be in the range of 70-84 and around 60000-65000 respectively.
You can check out marks Vs ranks Vs Percentile from the link given below :-
https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-marks-vs-percentile
Note that the percentile and rank which are predicted is only the expected percentile and rank on the basis of previous year's data so your actual percentile and rank might vary depending upon current factors.
On such percentile range and being an OBC candidate you have good chances to qualify for JEE-Advance 2022 but still the cutoffs for this year have not released yet officially.
As the cut-offs are released along with the JEE-Main 2022 result so for now you can get an idea from JEE-Main 2021 qualifying cut-offs that are enlisted below :-
==>> Common Rank List (CRL) - 87.8992241-100.0000000 Percentile
==>> GEN-EWS - 66.2214845-87.8950071 Percentile

==>> Scheduled Caste (SC) - 46.8825338-87.8950071 Percentile
==>> Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 34.6728999 87.8474721 Percentile
==>> PwD - 0.0096375-87.8273359 Percentile
Note that in above table it is not the actual cut-off for JEE-Main 2022 but previous year's cut-off.
You can check out previous year's cut-off trends from the link given below :-
https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-cutoff
Based on such OBC rank and also considering your Home state quota for NIT Jalandhar you have decent chances to get following branches in it :-

Instrumentation and Control Engineering
Textile Technology

It is quite great. It has a very well-designed curriculum and classrooms, and the library is also very well-updated with books from every domain. The hostel provides students with a comfortable living experience and makes earning enjoyable.
NIT Jalandhar has good infrastructure with well-developed labs and classrooms. There are three hostels for first-year students: BH1, BH2, and BH5. BH1 and BH2 are better than BH5 because the food and facilities are much better in BH1 and BH2, but BH1 and BH2 are four-seater, while BH5 is a two-seater.
Very good college . Personally I like the college because of everything which you need full fill in this college college infrastructure is so good library, Gym outdoor indoor all type of game available
