A good college to do engineering is must for Indian students. If you don't have good score in this exam then you will surely take a drop but remember one thing, join one of the premium coaching institute and prepare very hard for it. Devote completely yourself for IIT Advanced. If you are from North or Central or East India try to get coaching at Delhi (FIIT JEE ) or Kota ( Bansal, Vibrant, Allen, Resonance) all are good but if you are from South India go for Narayana Or Sri Chaitanya Hyderabad.
Hope this helps you ..
It all depends on your goals if want to get into IIT without any other options in your mind you should take a drop and study hard
All the best and thanks for coming to careers360
