The Design Aptitude Test (DAT) is conducted for admission to design courses, mainly by institutions like NID and other design colleges.
The exam has two stages:

DAT Prelims – A written exam that tests design thinking, drawing skills, creativity, and general aptitude.

DAT Mains – Only shortlisted candidates from prelims are called. This stage includes studio tests, material handling, and interviews.
In DAT Prelims:

The number of questions varies, usually around 20 to 30.

Questions are a mix of subjective (drawing/sketching) and objective (MCQ-type).
Total marks are usually 100.
