Past academics are not as crucial in MBA placements as they are in MBA admissions. Many colleges combine academics with CAT score to declare their final shortlisted candidates. Also, in MBA placements some companies do give weightage to them, while some don't. however, if you have genuine reasons to justify your academic performance and you get good CAT score plus work hard and get good achievement records during your 2 years of MBA, then that will be the shining points on your CV and your past academics won't matter much.
