How to apply for CUET (UG) entrance exam and what is the syllabus

The application process for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG 2026 has officially begun. The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the application form on January 3, 2026. If you want to join top central universities like Delhi University (DU), BHU, or JNU, you must apply before the deadline.

Step-by-Step Application Process:
Registration:
First, you need to register online. Visit the official website or the link provided on the Careers360 page. Click on "New Registration" and create an account using your Email ID and Mobile Number.
Fill the Application Form:
Log in with your details. Fill in your personal information (Name, Parents' Name, Date of Birth) exactly as mentioned in your Class 10th or 12th mark sheet.
Upload Documents:
You must upload a scanned Passport-size Photograph and your Signature. Make sure the images are clear and in the correct format (JPG/JPEG).
Select Universities and Courses:
Select the universities and the specific courses you want to study. It is smart to select as many universities as possible to have more options for admission.
Choose Test Subjects:
Select the subjects for the exam. For 2026, you can choose a maximum of 5 subjects (including languages and the General Test).
Pay the Fee:
Pay the application fee online using Net Banking, Credit Card, or UPI. The fee changes based on your category (General, OBC, SC/ST).
Print Confirmation:
After paying, download and print the confirmation page. Keep this safe for later use.

CUET (UG) 2026 Syllabus and Exam Pattern
The CUET 2026 exam will be a Computer Based Test (CBT). The questions are based on the Class 12th NCERT syllabus. The exam has three main parts.
1. Section I: Language Test
What to study: You must choose at least one language. The questions test your reading skills. You will get passages to read (Reading Comprehension) and questions on grammar, vocabulary, synonyms, and antonyms.
Marking: According to recent updates on Careers360, the pattern may require attempting 50 questions in this section, but always check the final bulletin as this can change.
2. Section II: Domain Subjects
What to study: These are your main subjects like Physics, History, Accountancy, or Economics.
Syllabus: The syllabus is strictly from Class 12 NCERT textbooks. You do not need to study Class 11 topics.
Subjects: You can choose subjects related to the course you want to pursue.
3. Section III: General Test (GT)
What to study: This section is for general awareness. It includes General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Mental Ability, and Basic Math (up to Class 8 level).
Importance: This section is compulsory for many courses like BBA or BA in some universities.
Key Changes for 2026:
You can select a maximum of 5 subjects only.
The exam duration is 60 minutes per subject.
All questions in the sections may be compulsory this year.
