The answers that you may have received are only based on past year cut off trends and such which can change each year based on difficulty of the paper, number of candidates appearing, reserved seats available, etc.

The only logical way to predict these things is the past cut off list that people refer to, one can only be sure when the colleges actually start taking admissions and release their cut off lists so take those answers with a grain of salt. Always prepare a backup strategy in mind in case you do not get your desired college and if you do get it then that is the best that can happen.
