is niti aayog internship is free or not . and how i choose the field area of internship ?
Dear aspirant....!!
PROS of working here:
- The work environment is phenomenal here. The first day you will be asked to report to the in charge of the department you are selected in and he/she will further send you to the person in charge of the scheme that you are put into. And the work starts from the day 1. First they explain what exactly does Niti Aayog does and what is its role of this organization in the decisions that the Government makes. Then they brief you about the things that they will need you to do in brief and you need to either search up or come up with ideas as to a problem they want you to solve.
- The people governing your job are going to be highly professional people, who've either taught at IIMs, IITs or studied and worked there and have done a great deal of work before, so this is a chance for you to learn a lot of important things from them. Do not let that go, they are highly intellectual and would guide you in pretty much every matter (even if you need to ask things about your career).
- If you’ve studied economics ever and if it interests you, you have hit a jackpot. The people there are masters in it. They are going to teach you things that even the people doing bachelors or masters in Economics wouldn't know. Because experience. While working on something, if you’re stuck on something that you don't get, they exactly know what to tell you so that you hit directly on the target. They are that amazingly knowledgeable.
- The office seems like a government office but the environment is startup like. Obviously there aren't any bean bags if that’s your image of a startup, but the environment is. You come early in the morning, and as soon as you enter you see people working their ass off. So like a startup, everyone with you(even if they are on a higher position), sit in the same room and share the same goal and are determined to make that successful. If you are a science guy and if you are a developer of any platform in any chance, you become their boss! You control everything, they take your opinions and literally worship you in anything you say. (I am a website developer and I know that pretty well)
- Unlike pretty much every government office, here, YOU ARE VALUED. They would literally want your opinion in almost every matter, ask you to come up with innovative ideas and also accept them if you come up with good ones. I think that is the most motivating thing that can happen to any intern.
- You are also asked to attend meetings in big conference roomsalong with professionals and invited to events that you will never be able to attend otherwise. Also, people like the advisor (which is just the next position to the CEO of the department) would talk to you like he is your friend.
- If you do some good work in your 1 month period, your boss would voluntarily provide you with an amazing letter of Recommendation along with the certificate( and if you are applying here, I think you know what the value of a government certificate and an LOR is). Plus you make contacts that can get you literally into any government departmentyou want.
CONS of working here:
- I think there is just 1 con of working here, its that you will have to be disciplined and you have to work your ass off. If you don't they will pin-point you in front of your entire department which is just humiliating. You have to get in by 10:00am latest and even though the working hours end at 5:30pm, everyone including you will find yourself working till 7:00 approximately. So hard-work is required here. (In your internship period you will be blessed to have saturdays and sundays off! )
Overall interning at Niti Aayog is amazing! You shouldnt miss this chance if you get selected. Oh! And Internship applications open for the first 10 days of every month on the website.
All the best....!!
