KGEC campus life is vibrant & well-rounded — large green campus, many active clubs (arts, robotics, music, dance etc.), annual fests like Espektro, decent hostel experience and strong senior-junior bonding.
It have some good laboratory facilities but for only for some specific subjects like physics, chemistry, basic electrical (All the laboratories which are mainly used in 1st year) other than that the computers should be replaced with new ones as only few of them are working properly.
The quality of teaching is really good as our professors are very helpful and also have PhD qualifications. They are strict but at the same time they want us to improve in studies and they make us understand the subjects in an easy way for improvement.
It's good but off campus placements have higher packages as in our college TCS and Infosys comes for placement with a minimum of 2-3 LPA or 3-4 LPA. We have training and placement cell (TNP Cell) and Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIP Cell) which helps in placements for our college.
It's only Rs6000 per semester, soo as a government college and looking at the academics it's reasonable.
Yeahh.. college infrastructure is not so bad. In our 1st year, we got many opportunities and our theory and practical classes held as well and labs, classrooms were good enough. But, in 2nd year, we lost those opportunities. Now, the current condition of our classroom and labs are not so good enough than the previous year. There haven't fans enough.
Yeah,, academics is good enough.. some teachers really teaches us very well. But some classes are boring. So, overall the academic system of our college is not so much bad but no so much good. But our hod sir helps us and this friendly behaviour is very good for us.
Yeah,, placement isn't so bad enough.. Butt,, here the all students can't get this oppertunity for placement.. Mainly TCS, coding ninjas hiered our college.. minimum package is 3-4 lakh per annum. And our Tnp cell manages it.
Yeah,,,,, I paid some money to purchase my course for my higher studies and some internship. So, yeah I wasted some for this purpose. So, it's my opinion for this value - for - money purpose. So, I wasted my money and benifits for some.
My college has most of the necessary infrastructure, facilities, and equipment needed for academic activities. The classrooms are decent and have proper seating arrangements, fans, and projectors in some rooms. The laboratories are functional and equipped with the basic instruments required for practical sessions, though a few of them could be updated with newer tools.
I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. I chose this course because I have an interest in understanding how things work in this field and I believe it offers good career opportunities in the future. The subjects are practical and relevant to today’s industry needs, and the course helps in developing both technical knowledge and problem-solving. The quality of teaching in the college is decent. Most of the teachers are knowledgeable and try to explain the concepts clearly, though the teaching methods are mostly traditional. Some teachers use smart boards or presentations, while others rely on the chalk-and-talk method. A few faculty members are very supportive and help students with doubts and projects, but there’s still scope for improvement in making classes more interactive and practical orienting.
The placement quality in my college is average. A few well-known companies visit the campus every year, but most of the recruiters are small or mid-level firms. The placement cell tries to provide guidance through resume-building sessions, mock interviews, and training workshops, but more industry connections would definitely help. On average, around 50–60% of students from each batch get placed, mostly in entry-level roles. The placement rate is higher for students from computer-related or core technical branches compared to others. The average salary package is moderate, while some students manage to get better offers through off-campus opportunities
It is around 6k to 7k, so it's okay to pay this much money for one semester.
Classrooms and laboratories meet basic needs but doesn't have all the facilities such as smart boards, or all working computers. Hygiene is decent . Hostel food is clean and hostel's hygiene is not appropriate.
I am pursuing computer science engineering bcoz of my keen interest in coding. The faculties are supportive and some subject's professors are really helpful and provide great explanation. Our college follows makaut curriculum but on my opinion the syllabus aligns with once followed in most of the institutes across India but it shld be updated as it makes u partially ready for job .
Placements at our college is not that great but TCS mass recruiters whereas off campus placements are really great and inspiring. It is a good place to start your career. Alumini 's are in Infosys, amazon , google, isro and others.
Fees is just rupees 6000 which is quite decent as compared to other colleges.
My institution prioritizes maintaining state-of-the-art classrooms with amenities such as WiFi and smart boards. Living spaces are kept clean, and the food services uphold high hygiene standards. It reflects a commitment to providing a conducive and comfortable environment for students.
My institution is dedicated to maintaining modern curricula for optimal job market readiness. The exceptional quality of teaching, tailored to meet student needs, adds tremendous value to the overall learning experience. This commitment ensures students are well-equipped for success in their future endeavors.
The placement quality at my college has been very good, with students securing positions in top companies like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft. Over 90% of students were placed, and the highest salary, 41 LPA, was offered by Microsoft to a Computer Science student. The average salary stood at 5-6 LPA. The placement process was both easy and pleasant, and my college was supportive throughout.
My course in Computer Science Engineering costs 6k per semester which is 12k per year. I feel I'm getting my money's worth due to the excellent infrastructure, high teaching standards, good placement opportunities, and the overall positive environment of the college. The course fees aligns well with the quality of education and opportunities provided.
The best features include vibrant clubs and societies fostering skill development and student connections. The supportive and helpful nature of students, teachers, and support staff contributes to a positive environment. The location is safe, and there are provisions to handle emergencies.
My college stands as a hub for avid knowledge seekers, fostering academic pursuits, skill enhancement, and active engagement in extracurricular activities. It's a comprehensive platform that encourages holistic development for those dedicated to both education and personal growth.
Infrastructure wise the college had adequate equipments but they are mostly dated and old, however the new building we have is much more modern, we didnt smart boards but we got projectors, in hostel its a bit filthy so better to avoid it the food is not that clean or good for that matter.
I studied ECE, but I didn't like or enjoy it much because we didn't have any good or enthusiastic teacher who would make us love the subject its was mostly theoretical, the curriculum is far from being updated so dont expect to get industry level skills.
Placements are pretty bad, for ECE atleast, every ECE student either is gonna persue MTech or will be sitting for IT Jobs ad hardy 2-3 students will be able get core ECE but that on their own talent, only the mass recruiters comes during the season, the good thing is the students are capable of getting jobs offcampus
per year it costed hardy around 12-14K with total course fee hovering around 56k so its cheaper than any other college. the entire experience is really good on the value for money perspective.
Campus life is good, we have various clubs for different activities and the techno-managerial fest is one of the best things to enjoy here, overall being located in a town is a downside even though the campus is safe the outskirts of the area is not a great place to hangout in. Basic emergencies are handles well in a local govt hospital.
Hello
With a JELET rank of 410 in the General category, getting into Chemical Engineering at KGEC is quite difficult because their cutoffs are usually much lower. KGEC is one of the top government colleges, so seats fill quickly with higher-ranked students. You might still get chances in lower-demand branches or in later rounds.

Hey Anurag:)
If you're a West Bengal domicile, then with a SC rank of 1411 you have a very good chance of getting B.Pharm at Jadavpur University as well as CSE or IT in government college like KGEC , because the SC cutoffs for these seats are usually higher then your rank. But if you're applying as an outside-state candidate, then GMR 16,889 will not be enough for Jadavpur or for CSE in top government colleges, since their general closing rank stay in the low thousands. So, simply if you're a WB domicile you are safe for both Jadavpur and KGEC.If you re from OHS it'll be difficult.

Hello Aspirant,
Your WBJEE rank is 72,000 and SC rank ~8,000; therefore, it is going to be very difficult to get CSE in Heritage or KGEC because those two colleges are usually closed by much lower SC rank. Although the CSE cut-offs at government colleges are also usually lower than yours. You may be able to get other branches in some government engineering colleges or could possibly get CSE in the less preferred private colleges. You should have a look at last year's official WBJEE opening & closing ranks on the WBJEE website to give you some clarity. Refer this: WBJEE Rank Wise College List
