About GCET 2020

Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Goa conducts GCET exam for admission to B.E. and B. Pharm programmes offered by the participating institutes. Admission to B.Arch programme under GCET 2020 is  on the basis of candidates’ scores in National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA). The application form of GCET 2020 will be available in offline mode from February. Students had to download the application form and submit it at the application reception centre in person or through the post on or before last date. It is important that candidates first check the eligibility criteria of GCET 2020 before they proceeded to fill the application form. The entrance exam of GCET 2020 will be conducted in offline mode on May 5 for Physics (10 am to 12 pm) and Chemistry (2 pm to 4 pm) respectively and on May 6 for Mathematics (10 am to 12 pm) for which candidates had to prepare from the prescribed syllabus of GCET 2020 following the exam pattern. The result of GCET 2020 will be announced in online mode by the authorities in May. On the basis of scores obtained, GCET 2020 merit list will be prepared. For admission, candidates will have to participate in counselling for which they will have to register and fill their choices. The registration for counselling process will start from May. The allotment of seats in the participating institutes will be done on the basis of candidates’ merit, choice filling and seat availability.

GCET 2020 Eligibility Criteria

GCET B.E Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria of GCET 2020 is prescribed by DTE, Goa. Candidates applying will have to fulfill GCET 2020 eligibility criteria for their application forms to be accepted. Candidates will have to adhere to the following parameters under GCET eligibility criteria 2020:

B.E./ B. Pharmacy

Nationality: Only Indian nationals are eligible to appear in GCET 2020 exam. Non-resident Indians holding Indian passport can also apply for seats reserved under NRI category. Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) / Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders will also be considered eligible for admissions to seats under NRI Category. 

Age: There is no age limit specified for admission to Engineering and Pharmacy Courses.

Qualifying Exam: Candidates applying must have passed Higher Secondary School Certificate (10+2) Examination of the Goa Board or equivalent exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, or any other examination. Candidates who have passed, or are appearing in HSSC,10+2 or equivalent exam before the start of the academic session will also be eligible to appear in GCET 2020.

Subject Combination & Minimum Marks: Candidates should have passed Higher Secondary School Certificate examination of the Goa Board or equivalent exam with English, Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with any one of the following subjects Chemistry/ Bio-Technology/ Computer Science/ Biology with minimum 45% marks in aggregate in Physics & Mathematics with one of the following subjects Chemistry/ Bio-Technology/ Computer Science/ Biology. Candidates belonging to SC, ST and OBC categories need to have 40% for the same criteria.

Reserved Categories: Candidates claiming seats in the reserved category of SC/ST/OBC will be required to submit their caste certificate in the prescribed proforma from the Competent Authority. In case of the required certificate not been enclosed with the form, their application will be considered for the General Category only.

For Kashmiri Migrants: Candidates should have passed Higher Secondary School Certificate examination or equivalent examination with English, Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects -  Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology and obtained minimum 45% marks in Physics & Mathematics with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology.

GCET B.Arch Eligibility Criteria

NATA: Candidates need to have a valid score in NATA entrance exam as conducted by COA.

Qualifying Exam: Candidates should have passed Higher Secondary School Certificate exam of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent with Mathematics as one of the subjects and secured minimum 50% marks in aggregate (45% aggregate marks for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC). OR

Candidates must have done 10+3 Diploma (any stream) passed/ appearing recognized by Central/State Govts with 50% aggregate marks with Mathematics. OR

Candidates must have completed International Baccalaureate Diploma after 10 years of schooling, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory exam subject.

The application form of GCET 2020 will be available in the official website of DTE Goa. Candidates have to download and fill the application form in offline mode and submit it in-person within the last date. Candidates had to first download the form as available on the website, take a print out of it, fill it and submit it on or before the last date at notified locations as per Centre opted.

How to fill GCET application form?

  • First of all, candidates had to download the application form of GCET 2020 and take its print out in A4 size paper (the print out has to be of good quality)     
  • Following it, candidates were required to fill their valid personal, academic and communication details. 
  • Candidates had to fix their recent photograph in the space provided. 2 additional photographs had to be enclosed by the candidates.
  • It was to be noted that the name of the candidate should be in capital letters and same as it appears on SSC/ HSSC certificate. Candidates should have entered their date of birth as mentioned in Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) certificate. The postal code and address also had to be submitted by the candidates in the application form.
  • During form filling, candidates had to pay application fee of Rs. 2000 in online mode
  • Candidates had to send the filled application form along with a Demand Draft and three identical photographs as indicated, and other specified certificates (self-attested photocopies) to obtain the Photo-Admit Card from the Admission Committee to obtain the Acknowledgement Card, with registration number, as proof of submission of the form to the following address:

It is to be noted that enclosures of NATA/ CBSE results, if not available by specified date of submission, due to non-declaration of results have to be submitted within 8 days of declaration of these results.

GCET 2020 Result

GCET B.E Result

DTE, Goa will announce the result of GCET 2020 in May. Candidates will have to click on the result link to check their GCET 2020 result. Once the candidate clicks on the link, the result will appear on the screen in the form of compiled list of GCET subject-wise scores obtained by all the candidates. On the basis of scores, GCET 2020 merit list will be prepared by the authorities. Separate provisional merit lists will be prepared and displayed released.

For B.E., merit list will be prepared based on GCET 2020 scores.

GCET B.Arch Result

The merit list for B.Arch. programme will be prepared based on NATA scores of the candidates. Therefore, it is important for candidates to appear in NATA and have valid scores.

GCET B.Pharma Result

DTE, Goa announces the result of GCET 2020 in both online and offline mode. GCET 2020 result can be checked by candidates from the official website and from the notice board of DTE. However, no individual score card will be issued by the authorities.  On the basis of scores, GCET 2020 merit list will be prepared by the authorities. Separate provisional merit lists will be prepared and displayed released.

For B. Pharm, merit list will be prepared based on GCET 2020 scores. 

Mode of Counselling: Offline

The spot round counselling of GCET 2020 will be conducted by the exam authorities in June. To be able to participate in GCET 2020 counselling, candidates will have to register for same. They will be required to again fill and submit the counselling form in person at the DTE office. Candidates will have to be present in person at the Admission Centre at the time of GCET counselling 2020 along with their acknowledgement card, original documents & fees. The counselling of GCET 2020 was conducted by DTE, Goa in offline mode in three rounds. Upon submission, an acknowledgement card was generated which candidates had to keep safely. Candidates present for counselling will have an opportunity to choose a seat of his or her own choice according to merit.

The seat allotment was done according to candidates’ merit, specified choices and availability of seat. 

Candidates who will be allotted seat during any round of counselling will have to report to the institution allotted within 3 working days and obtain acknowledgement, otherwise, their admission will be cancelled.
