how to apply counselling in delhi
Dear Aspirant,
To become a counsellor, you would first have to apply for B.Sc. Psychology and then for your post-graduation do M.Sc. in Psychology in Counselling.
BSc. Psychology is a three-year undergraduate course which aims to mould the candidates with fundamentals and a clear understanding of the human brain, neural networks, and emotions. The average course fee for this course in India ranges from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 1,00,000 per annum. For this, you will also need a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in your 10+2 to be eligible to apply. Then, the selection after that will take place based on your merit and the cut-offs of the colleges under the umbrella of Delhi University which are pretty high.
Other colleges in delhi which you can check are-
Jamia Millia Islamia has some great faculty, great resources and great campus life for students who want to continue with psychology. Many of the colleges like JMI rather than B.Sc. provide B.A. and B.A. (Hons.) which are also great for pursuing counselling in the future. For applying to Jamia, you need to give the joint entrance exam which happens every year in May-June and the forms come out in March/April.
The test comprises of
- Language Skills – 20 Questions
- General Awareness – 40 Questions
- Reasoning – 20 Questions
- Social Awareness – 20 Questions
After this, you can go ahead with M.Sc. Psychology or M.A. Psychology with Counselling as your core subject to become a counsellor. This is again available at DU and JMI but you can also look into Jawaharlal Nehru University for post-graduation.
Hope this helps. All the best!
