So whether you get admission to a college will mostly depend on your reservation benefits since we can't assure it with a rank below 8000. If you belong to the general category then I dont think you would get admission in the top notch colleges .

If u are a general category student, 12940 is a pretty low rank. So it is difficult to be able to get admitted in a good IIT or nit, since the cutoffs are generally between 5k-6k. Probably, you can get admission in some state colleges, but not in NITs.
