As you mentioned that you want to pursue PHD in Economics, you first need to complete your post graduation.

Post graduation with specialization in Economics is advisable. Many Arts and Commerce colleges offer post graduation courses in economics.

As you are from Bcom, i.e. commerce background I would advise you to further pursue Mcom rather than MA.

Although it also totally depends upon you as to which you want to pursue.
