    Hello Kanika,

    It depends on your choice whether or not you wish to avail admission in your state universities, it is not mandatory to upload the domicile certificate and is optional for CLAT 2019. You should upload the domicile certificate if you wish to secure admission through state quota.

    Thank you for your reply.But I still have a doubt. See, I'm a student from Dhanbad, and there's an NLU in Ranchi. If supposing I wish to seek admission there, is it necessary to upload the domicile certificate now while filling the application form only? Can it not be possible to just fill the form without uploading domicile now, and maybe later on submitting the certificate at the time of admission?

    When CLAT declares the merit list it also publishes a separate state wise rank list and during the allotment process, it is likely that your AIR will be higher than your state rank and if you get a good state rank as compared to the AIR you can get admission through state quota.All this will be possible only if Domicile certificate is submitted beforehand and not at the time of admission otherwise, for example, NUSRL has 60 seats under the state quota and 60 for candidates from other states and your name will not be in state merit list because of nonsubmission of certificate so it might be a problem.Hope this clears your doubt.Thank you for contacting Careers360.
