Hello Jatin,

Based on 476 marks in NEET 2025 and in General-EWS category, it is important to remember that obtaining an MBBS seat in a government medical college is dependent on your state of domicile and the cut-off trajectory of that year.

  • For All India Quota (15%) - General-EWS - the cut-off is usually above 600 in most government colleges.
  • For State Quota (85%) - conditions are better if you belong to a state which has lower cut-offs or a lesser number of top rankers. North Eastern states, Bihar, Rajasthan, or Chhattisgarh are likely to have lower cut-offs in EWS category but 476 is still borderline.

You may have a better chance in:

  1. Semi-government/ESIC colleges
  2. Deemed universities with EWS seats
  3. Private colleges with government quota fees

With 476 marks in NEET 2025 under the General EWS category, here’s what the trends suggest:

For government MBBS seats through All India Quota, you might need around 580–600 marks or a rank below 20,000, so 476 marks is likely too low for a general seat.

In State quotas, cutoffs vary widely:
some states have lower closing scores in less competitive colleges, but needing around 500+ is still common. With 476, your chances are slim unless there are seats available in very low-demand government colleges in states with lower cutoffs.

You may have a chance to get seats in high-ranking private medical colleges, especially under management or NRI quotas, but fees can be significantly higher.

With 476 marks in NEET 2025 and belonging to the General EWS category, you do have a fair chance of getting an MBBS seat in a government medical college, but it largely depends on your home state and the cutoff trends this year.

For All India Quota (AIQ) 15% seats, the cutoff for General EWS candidates usually goes above 500, so it might be slightly tough to get a seat through AIQ unless there’s a drop in cutoffs or you're applying in states where cutoffs are relatively lower.

However, under the 85% state quota, your chances improve significantly if you belong to a state where government medical colleges have lower cutoffs for EWS candidates, especially in the second or mop-up rounds. States like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh have shown some flexibility in cutoffs for EWS students in past years.

It’s important to apply through both AIQ and your state counselling and stay updated on closing ranks in each round. You can also use the NEET college predictor tool to explore which colleges accepted similar scores last year.

All the best!
