Economically Weaker Section (EWS or GEN-EWS) is a sub category of people belonging to the General Category having an annual family income less than ₹8 lakhs and who do not belong to any reserved category such as SC/ST/OBC. However, an EWS candidate with annual family income above the prescribed limit will only be recognized as a candidate from General category
