I have 90% in 10th, 96% in 12th and 7.8 CGPA in BCOM... How much should I score in CAT 2018 to get a call from the top IIMs?

Hey Hashmitha!

You have good score throughout your academic profile. So, you have a fair amount of chances for making into IIMABC, but for that, you will need 96-97 percentile plus in the CAT exam. Here, I am considering the gender diversity quota and its leverage. So, prepare well and ace it. Best wishes!

Dear Hashmitha

You have a fairly decent profile, above average if i must say. Also you are from BCOM background. I would advice you to score over 98 to get most of the top IIMs calls.

New IIMs calls can be expected at 95 percentile as well. Preapre well for GWPI and you will get a seat in old ones. IIM indore has a high chance of calling you.

All the best.

Hi Hashmitha,

You have decent academic records. However, if you wish to know the tentative figures of CAT marks across various categories(Gen/OBC/SC/ST), or weightage given to PI, WAT< graduation marks, 10th and 12th marks of the top IIMs like A,B,C besides others, then I suggest you go through the following link -

Hi Aspirant,

Well,this depends.

Last year,IIM Calcutta had the cutoff of 90 percentile for the general category. (This basically means the last candidate from this category who got a call had this percentile).

Since, all the IIM's are focusing to increase the diversity in their classrooms and the weightage changing,it's very difficult to actually predict a safe score.

However, academics can never be totally neglected and definitely scoring in the 95+ percentile range does become a must for safety. And for top IIM's and FMS ,this goes as high as 98+ percentile.

So,try to score the maximum marks you can to stand the best chance to acquire a seat.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Rohit. This does help. I belong to the OBC category and also have 1 year of work experience from one of the big four companies as of September 30th, 2018. So is a 85 percentile score in CAT sufficient or will I need more?
