IITs and NITs are centrally funded institutes and hence provide fee waiver to the needy and underprivileged students so that they could continue studying conveniently. Following fee waiver is provided to the students based on their annual family income and category.

• There is complete tution fee waiver for SC/ST/PH candidates irrespective of annual family income.
• There is complete tution fee waiver for general and OBC candidates whose annual family income is less than one lakh.
• For general and OBC candidates whose annual family income is between 1 to 5 lakh per annum, there is two-third remission of tution fee waiver.
