About IIIT Bangalore
International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore is a Deemed University. The institute was established in 1999 with a vision to contribute to the IT world by focusing on education, research, entrepreneurship and innovation and is popularly known as IIIT-B. The Institute is funded jointly by the Government of Karnataka and the IT industry. IIIT-Bangalore offers course-based degree programmes, namely the Integrated M.Tech (IM.Tech) and Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Information Technology and Electronic Systems Design. - The Editorial Club- 8Bit: The Club promotes literacy activities among students. Students of this club are the sole in-charge of editing the magazine- 8Bit.
- The Social Service Club-Aikyam: Aikyam is a social service club of IIIT Bangalore. The Club takes various initiatives to help the poor and the needy. Through the “Aikyam Trips”, students visit orphanages and donate the necessary items and funds.
- The Photography Club-Chayachitra: The Club promotes the art of photography among students. The Club is a group of students who are interested in photography and aims to capture special moments of the college's feasts and celebrations.
- The Competitive Programming Club-CAMP: This Club is all about competitive programming. Competitive programming involves algorithms and data structures to solve complex problems within the specified time. The Club's other activities involve group discussions, problem solving and competitions.
- The Dance Club: The Club promotes dance and encourages students to take an active part in its various programmes. The students of this Club get an opportunity to perform at important college events.
- The Debate Society Club: The Debate Society Club provides a platform for the students to express their views on all global matters and to build general social awareness. The aim of the Club is to develop critical thinking among students and to make them confident orators.
- The Robotics Club -Enigma: This Club exposes students to the training programme in Arduino and various sensors like IR and ultrasonic sensors. Besides training programmes, Enigma also conducts seminars on various related topics.
- The Music Club: The Club is a group of students who have an incredible passion and talent for music. The Club regularly organises musical nights where students get an opportunity to perform. They also get opportunities to be a part of IIIT Bangalore Foundation Day, Infin8, Spandan and Convocation.
- The Theatre Club- Parvaaz: The Club is an effort to bring artistic expression to the campus in the form of a plethora of thespian talents such as mime, theatre, street play.
- The Developers’ Community-Zense: The goal of the Club is to unite passionate developers and provide them with a platform to collaborate and innovate. The Club organises seminars on new technologies, conduct hackathons and promotes open-source culture at IIIT Bangalore.
- Students Activity Council (SAC): SAC is the elected body of IIIT-B, which is responsible for bridging the gap between the students and the administration. SAC is the first point of contact for the admin for discussing any policy changes or rule initiations or modifications. SAC plans and organises a multitude of events, both formal and informal, throughout the academic year, and encourages participation from all students. It helps in maintaining harmony between different batches and ensuring that their ideas and suggestions are well represented.
- Internet Committee: This committee ensures students have access to flawless and 24/7 WiFi service from a reliable ISP. Students get their credentials soon after joining IIIT-B. If there is any maintenance or shutdown, the committee sends a notification to the students via email.
- Food Committee: This is a student-run body which designs the menu and updates it regularly keeping in mind the various cuisines.

IIIT Bangalore Admissions 2021
International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore offers admission to postgraduate and doctoral courses. Admission to some courses will be done through the All India Level Entrance Examination while for some courses admission will be done on the basis of the merit in the qualifying examination. Further, the candidates have to appear for an interview process for some courses. The detailed admission process is given below:
For M.Tech:
- The candidates are required to register their application online. The link for online registration will be available on the official website of IIITB
- Admission to M.Tech. (IT) is based on the GATE score and the availability of seats.
For Integrated M.Tech:
- Students have to register their application online through the link provided on the official website of IIITB.
- Students can Log in to the portal with their credentials. They can enter other details like education details, competitive exam details (like JEE score) and submit the necessary documents.
- Admission to the Integrated M.Tech. programme is solely on the basis of the score of Paper-I of Joint Entrance Examination JEE (Main) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education.
For M.Sc:
- Candidates are required to register their applications online. The link for online application will be available on the official website of IITB.
- Candidates whose applications are in order will have to take a written examination at IIIT Bangalore.
- The entrance examination will test numerical/quantitative, analytical, and verbal abilities, as well as design, social, and information technology awareness.
- All the shortlisted candidates will have to appear for an interview at IIIT Bangalore.
- In exceptional circumstances, the interviews can also be conducted remotely using a video calling facility, in case the candidates are not able to travel to Bengaluru on the interview date(s). The decision of the Admission Committee on this matter shall be final.
- The candidates who have a valid score in CAT, CEED, CUCET and TISS NET may be exempted from appearing for a written test at IIIT Bangalore.
- The final list of candidates to be admitted will be decided after the interview. The selection will be based on performance in the interview, scores in the written test (or, in one of the four national level entrance tests mentioned above), professional experience and marks obtained in 10th, 12th and Under-graduate/Bachelor’s examinations.
For PG Diploma:
- Students have to register their application online through the link provided on the official website of IIITB.
- The application will be reviewed by the admission team, and if it is shortlisted, the candidate will get a call for further procedure.
- The candidate has to take a selection test at IIITB which is designed to check their aptitude and quantitative abilities. The applicants can skip the test if they have a valid score in GRE, GMAT or CAT.
For MS by Research:
- Students have to register their application online through the link provided on the official website of IIITB.
- They have to submit the required details and pay the online payment, which is not refundable.
- The applicant will receive an email on the registered email address with login credentials and URL.
- Students can log in to the portal with their credentials. They can enter other details like education details, CV, recommendation letter, competitive exam details etc. and submit the necessary documents.

IIIT Bangalore Facilities
International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore provides many infrastructural facilities to the students and faculty such as separate hostels for boys and girls, library with a collection of books, laboratory for practical knowledge, sports facilities, gymnasium, medical facilities for an emergency. Various other facilities like E-Health Research Centre, wi-fi, etc are also available.
- Hostel: IITB provides hostels for boys and girls, named as Bhaskara and Lilavati respectively. Both the hostels are equipped with washrooms, drying rooms, water heaters, safe drinking water with RO system, elevators, fire safety measures and recreational areas.
- Bhaskara-Boys Hostel: First and second floors are allotted to I and II year IMTech students, and they have to share rooms with two other students. Third-year onwards students are eligible for single accommodation.
- Lilavati- Girls Hostel: Girls hostel has two wings one for the IMTech and the other for M.Tech, M.Sc and PhD students. Students get single rooms for all the 5 years but they have to shift their rooms every one or two years.
- Library: The Institute has an academic library with an excellent collection of books, journals, and magazines both in print and electronic form. Students have privileged free access to numerous online research resources (such as the ACM Digital Library, IEEEXplore, JSTOR)
- HiDes Laboratory: High Density Electronic Systems (HiDes) focuses on research and development in the area of high density and low dimensional electronics. The area of research includes 3D electronics, magnetic logic devices, interconnects, and antennas. HiDES is affiliated to Center of Electronics and Embedded systems lab (CEEMS) and Computational Sciences Lab (CSL) at IIITB.
- CEEMS Laboratory: The mission of CEEMS Laboratory is to foster excellence by nurturing talent and focusing on research in the areas of VLSI, embedded system design, wireless communications and computer vision.
- E-Health Research Centre (EHRC): EHRC seeks to address the health care-related differences existing in India through cutting-edge research on the use of information and communication technologies for meeting the healthcare needs of the under-served and marginal population groups in India and similar regions across the world, with a focus on affordability, accessibility and availability of technology solutions.
- Sports: Various sports facilities are available in the campus, which include a basketball court, volleyball court, throw ball court, indoor badminton courts, a field for football and cricket. The college also provides indoor games such as chess, carroms and table tennis.
- Gym: Separate gym facilities are provided for both boys and girls which has treadmills and bicycles for a cardiovascular workout. Equipment for weight lifting and strength gaining exercises are also available in the gym.
- Medical Facilities: Medical facilities are available in the campus on particular days. The Institute also has counselling psychologists who visit the campus every week. Yes of course you are eligible for admission to NITs/IIITs even if you have not scored 75% marks in your class 12th because to qualify for JEE Mains, there is no minimum aggregate percentage criteria and also if you want to take admission into NITs, IIITs or CFTIs then you should pass in your class 12th. Because as per the latest announcement made by our Hon'ble Education minister Mr.Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank, the 75% criteria has been removed for upcoming year 2021-22.
Some insights of JEE-Main 2021 :-
> Also from this year according to New Education Policy the JEE-Main examination will be conducted in English, Hindi and other regional languages such as Bengali, Gujarati, Assamese, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Odia and Malayalam.
> In JEE-Main 2021 there will be total 90 question out of which you have to attempt only 75 (25 from each section) and there will be two sections for each subject, Section-A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs)(20 compulsory questions) and Section-B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value (10 numerical based questions out of which only 5 are compulsory to be attempted).
> In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be no negative marking for Section B.
> All question will be of 4 marks and in MCQs there will be negative marking of (-1) on incorrect attempt.

IIIT is also good institute for engineering. The IIIT-B Library’s ongoing mission is to deliver resources and services to support learning, teaching and research activities of the institute and provide a dynamic learning environment conducive for the above activities. Keeping in view of the above objectives, 1,000 new print titles are added to our library collection this year alone, taking the total count of our books and reference collection to 12031. Library resources can be accessed from both on and off-campus providing the required flexibility to faculty and students.
The campus is equipped with sports facilities for outdoor activities like Jogging, Cricket, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Lawn Tennis, Throw ball, and indoor activities like Badminton, Table Tennis, Carom, Chess.
The college has excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students. IIIT-B's fully wired campus consists of high-speed 10Gbps and 1Gbps fiber-optic backbones connected to the internal network through high-end core Ethernet switches and distributions switches. Connectivity in the A facility is established at two levels. First, the local intranet implements a "virtual classroom," where all the visual material, such as presentation slides used by professors in class, are made available electronically to students through a Learning Management System. All assignments and projects are announced and submitted online. The intranet also enables knowledge sharing among students.
Meals are available at the Food Court located in a separate building. The food that our students have is the same food that is also had by faculty and staff, and offered to visitors including distinguished dignitaries, thus ensuring quality. This in-house modern and hygienic kitchen and dining area have a dining capacity 350 plus. There is a separate small cafeteria which is operational between 8:30am to 2:30am (18 hours).
The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminar.
IIIT Bangalore alumni consisting of over 2,500 graduates (as on July 2017) are the true ambassadors of the Institute. They occupy key positions in major Indian and international corporations and are actively engaged in mentoring current students on the campus.
