Course Details

A Diploma in Data Science from IIT Madras is offered under its B.Sc. in Programming and Data Science. The online Diploma in Data Science course is the second level which can be pursued by students only after the completion of the foundation level course of online B.Sc in Programming and Data Science. However, students who wish to appear for only a Diploma can take admission to the course by entering via Diploma Only Entry. It must be noticed that by taking this IIT Madras course via Diploma only Entry, students will not further be able to proceed to the Degree Level courses.

Eligibility Criteria

Individuals willing to take the IIT Madras Online Diploma course must meet the following eligibility criteria before applying:

Candidates must have studied Mathematics and English in class 10.
Candidates must have completed class 12th or equivalent.

Candidates who are joining the course from the foundation level must have cleared all 8 Foundational Level courses. However, candidates opting for just the Diploma in Data Science online course can get directly in via Diploma Only Entry. Also, candidates currently in college, who have dropped out of/completed their Bachelor’s Degree can also apply for the course as their second degree.

Admission Details

There are two processes to get admission to the online Diploma in Data Science course:

Regular Entry - Candidates starting from Foundation Level
Diploma Only Entry - Candidates taking only the Diploma in Data Science course

Eligible candidates need to visit the official website and fill up the application form online for the B.Sc Data Science online course. Candidates taking admission for only the online Diploma in Data Science course must fill in the online application form for Diploma Only Entry. In order to fill up the form, candidates will have to enter the required basic details in the online application form along with uploading the documents. The size and specifications of the documents are mentioned below.

Required documents/files to be uploaded as part of the application form:

Passport size photograph (JPG / JPEG format) - 50 to 150 KB
Signature (JPEG / JPG format) - 4 to 150 KB file size.
Photo ID Card Scan - Aadhar Card / PAN Card / Passport / Voter ID / Driving License / 12th Admit card with photo / other Government ID with photo (JPEG / JPG / PDF format) - 50 KB to 2 MB file size.
Category Certificate - only for applicants who select SC / ST / OBC-NCL / EWS (JPEG / JPG / PDF format) - 50 KB to 2 MB file size.
PwD Certificate - only for applicants with 40% or more disability (JPEG / JPG / PDF format) - 50 KB to 2 MB file size.

Application Details

The online Diploma in Data Science application form must be filled by following the steps mentioned below:

Step 2: Sign up with your email id.

Step 3: After signing up you have to click on the radio button.

Step 4: Fill in all the required information

Step 5: Upload the necessary documents

Step 6: Pay the application fee and submit the form

The Syllabus

The IIT Madras Online Diploma in Data Science syllabus contains six courses along with two projects. The courses on Business Data emphasise the context and the need for the data, whereas the Machine Learning courses allow the learner to use and assess this data towards impactful conclusions. Evaluation Process

The exam for the IIT Madras Online Diploma in Data Science course contains three types of assessments - online weekly assignments, monthly in-person invigilated quizzes and an in-person invigilated end-term exam. In order to pass the exam candidates must secure marks which are equal to or more than 50/100. The marks will be evaluated by taking the Average Quiz Score Q (out of 50) + End Term Score E (out of 50).

College Infrastructure

The infrastructure is one of the best in the whole of country, it's holds the nirf 1 ranking among iits for a long time and in the infrastructure, it's very well built, spacious, smart and lively. The classroom are cleaned, well equipped and smart classes are available too. College campus have so many facilities like wifi, sports ground and all too.
