Jawaharlal Nehru University, also known as JNU, is a central university in New Delhi that was established in the year 1969. The university is fully funded by the Government of India. It was established to meet the challenges of the knowledge era and keep up with the pace of knowledge explosion in higher education. The university is committed to inculcating quality into all dimensions of higher education. 

The Jawaharlal Nehru University offers 181 courses across the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. A few of the JNU courses are offered across multiple specialisations. These courses are offered across multiple streams like Computer Application and IT, Sciences, Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Commerce, Engineering and Architecture, and others. The Jawaharlal Nehru University offers admission to eligible candidates who fill out the application form before the due date.  The university accepts CUET-UG scores for JNU UG admissions and CUET-PG scores for JNU PG admissions. Candidates seeking admissions to JNU Delhi for B.Tech programmes are required to appear in the JEE Main examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). JNU offers a number of scholarships and fellowships to its students. Some of the JNU fellowships are offered through UGC-CSIR Junior Research Fellowships, UGC-Scholarships and Fellowships, State Government Fellowships. JNU scholarships and fellowships are either offered to felicitate the meritorious students or to help the students who belong to the economically weaker sections of society. Some of the Jawaharlal Nehru University scholarships are Merit-cum-means Scholarships, G Parthasarathi Endowment Fellowship, Jawahar Bhawan Trust Scholarship, Special Fellowships for SC/ST and PH students, and others. Rs. 1,000 per month for ten months for Hosteller

Students who belong to Minority communities (Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jain, and Parsis/Zoroastrians, pursuing a technical or professional course at the undergraduate or postgraduate level from a recognised institution with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination a family income not more than Rs. 1,00,000 p.a

Okita Memorial Fellowship

Two fellowships each of the value of Rs. 5,000 p.m. with an annual contingency grant of Rs. 10,000.

Meritorious Indian students in JNU who are registered for M.Phil/Ph.D. and M.A 2nd year programme in various Centres of SIS/SLLCS/SSS pursuing studies/research in any of the areas of specialisation bearing on Japan or on India's Relations with Japan.

G Parthasarathi Endowment Fellowship

Four fellowships of Rs. 1,000 p.m for a period of 1-year

Students coming from economically weaker sections of society, particularly Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Backward Class, and Physically Challenged (Handicapped) students.

Special Fellowships for SC/ST and PH students 

Four Fellowships of  Rs. 12,000 p.m.

Jawahar Bhawan Trust Scholarship

Awarded to 10 students with a CGPA of 5.5 at the end of third semester of MA/M.Sc. and fifth semester in case of M.C.A.

Nippon Foundation (Japan)

Rs. 15,000 p.m for 3 years

Six students of the M.Phil./Ph.D. programme will be awarded the Fellowship.

College Infrastructure

You could get access to some of JNU's other labs, which are one of their kind. The labs of School of Engineering are satisfactory. Recent plans to build a new building seem to make improvements in future. Other facilities like Wi-Fi and the library are just excellent. There are numerous canteens and dhabas within the campus, along with a health centre and a huge stadium.

For phD Course in JNU 2023 , the last date of application was december 8, 2023. The exam will be held in may 2024.

Now application forms for phD will be released in December 2024 for which enteanxe exam will be held in April or May 2025.

Admission procedure for phD in political science in Hawaharksl Nehru university  for the year 2024 is as follows

Eligibility-

The candidate must be of 21 years old ( minimum), the candidate must have secured minimum 55 % marks in master's Course,  If you want to pursue phD in political science then you must have master's degree in political science with 55% .

Entrance exam -

There will be held a written test ,

The candidate must obtain following marks out of 70 in written test of doctorate studies to be invited to viva voce Examination.

  • 35 % marks ie 24.50 marks out of 70 ,general category candidate
  • For obc candidate it is mandatory to get 31.5% marks ie 22.05 marks out of 70
  • Sc/ st category students should get 25% marks


The candidates will give through final selection on the basis of merit in their respective categories

as measured by their performances.

No applicant will be eligible for admission to phD programmes unless He or she will not achieve the following minimum overall score
