Questions related to WBJEE

Have a question related to WBJEE ?

No, you cannot get admission into IIT Kharagpur (IIT KGP) through the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE).

IITs, including IIT KGP, accept admissions solely based on scores obtained in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced.

The WBJEE is a separate exam for admission into state-level engineering colleges in West Bengal, not IITs.

GOOD luck!!

What is Counseling for Engineering Admission in West Bengal?

  • Counseling is like the process where you pick your college and course based on your rank in the WBJEE exam.

  • After the exam results, you get to choose the colleges and courses you want, and depending on your rank, a seat is allocated to you.

How are WBJEE Results Released?

  1. After the Exam : Once you finish the WBJEE exam, your answers are evaluated.

  2. Result Declaration :

    • Score Card : The results are published online, where you'll see your rank and scores for each subject (Physics, Chemistry, and Math).

  3. Rank List :

    • A merit list will be released based on your overall performance, including your category rank if applicable.

  4. Counseling :

    • Register : You need to sign up for counseling by entering your details.

    • Choose Preferences : You then select your preferred colleges and courses.

    • Seat Allotment : Based on your rank and choices, you'll be given a college.

    • Document Verification : You'll need to provide documents like your rank card and ID proof for verification.

    • Pay the Fee : Finally, to confirm your seat, you make the payment.

This whole process ensures that you get a fair chance to choose the best college and course based on your performance.

Based on the previous year's WBJEE cutoff ranks for the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) branch at Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (JGEC), scoring 65 marks might make it challenging but not entirely impossible to secure a seat.

Looking at the 2024 cutoff data, the closing ranks for the General category (Home State) in the three rounds of counselling for CSE were quite low, ranging from 1747 to 2157 . These ranks typically correspond to significantly higher marks than 65 in the WBJEE.

However, the actual rank you secure with 65 marks in WBJEE 2025 will be crucial. The marks vs. rank correlation can vary each year depending on the overall performance of the candidates and the difficulty level of the exam. Generally, a score of 60-79 in WBJEE tends to correspond to a rank somewhere in the range of 15,750 to 16,250 based on some estimations.

Given this estimated rank range, admission to the CSE branch at JGEC, which typically closes within the top few thousand ranks for the general category, appears difficult.

Therefore, while getting a CSE seat at JGEC with 65 marks in the general category seems difficult based on past trends, your category and performance relative to others will be the deciding factors. You should aim to score as high as possible in WBJEE 2025 and then check the official cutoff ranks released by WBJEEB after the results. Keep an eye on the counselling process and participate in all relevant rounds.

Hii There,

According to the expected marks vs. rank study, if you receive 110 or 105 points, you will probably fall between 10,001 and 15,000 in the rank range based on the WBJEE 2024 statistics.  The cutoff ranks for admission to Jadavpur University's Information Technology (IT) department are highly difficult.  The IT closing rank for the open category in 2024 was around 295.  This implies that in order to get admitted to the IT program, applicants had to place in the top 300.

I hope this answers your question.

Thanks

Hello Sudip,

A score of 105–110 in WBJEE is good, but to acquire IT at Jadavpur University depends on different factors like:

  • Your General Rank
  • Your Category (General, SC, ST, OBC, TFW, etc.)
  • The year’s cutoffs, which are different

In the last few years, General category candidates generally needed a rank below 500–700 for IT at JU.  You might get a rank between the 800–1200 mark (approx.) with a score of 105–110, which may render CSE or IT hard in the General category but achievable in reserved categories or under TFW quota. Thus, it is not a sure shot, but you have a fair chance depending on your category and cutoff patterns.
