Presidency University Kolkata was established in 1817. The University initially started functioning as the Hindoo College which later got changed into Presidency college of Bengal in 1855. The college got the status of an University and got transformed its name into Presidency University on 7th July, 2010. The University is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The college also conducts entrance examinations of its own namely Presidency University Bachelor Degree Entrance Test (PUBDET) to offer admissions to undergraduate programmes and Presidency University Master Degree Entrance Test (PUMDET) to offer admissions to postgraduate programmes.

Warm wishes for choosing B.Sc in Chemistry as your career option. Now discussing about these three colleges , Xavier's College is the best option among all the private colleges, it has a good infrastructure and best ambience. But Presidency College is also a very good option but more famous for Arts Stream. JU is the best opportunity among the government colleges specially for Science Stream. I guess it works, make a wise choice!!!

Ba sociology hons better in St. Xaviers college kolkata or presidency university kolkata?
Both colleges are great for BA sociology, but St Xavier's College has an edge over Presidency University in terms of placement. The average packages are 5.5 LPA and 3.5 LPA respectively. Also ratings and ranking of Xavier's College is a little higher.
At Presidency University the total fees for the three year degree is around 13k while at Xavier's College it is 23k.

Application forms for Post Graduate courses in Presidency University, Kolkata will be available online from 1st September, 2021 (12 noon onwards) to 15th September, 2021 (till 4 pm). The Government Eden Hindu Hostel started as an undergraduate Boy's hostel of Presidency College, Kolkata. In order to accommodate postgraduate students and research scholars of Presidency College, this heritage building was extended in 1988. This hostel is one of the largest hostels in this country. Among its many illustrious boarders, the hostel counts the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad.
Presidency University Girls' Hostel is now fourteen years old. It provides accommodation to the girl students coming from distant places in a secure and safe environment. The hostel comprises 91 boarders that include students of undergraduate and of postgraduate classes. The hostel has its own well-stocked library and its recreation centre. The vertical extension of the existing hostel building has already been started to increase accommodation.
