The bad conditions of good advertising college.

Batch of Jan. 1, 2019 | B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering
Opting for this particular college: I was ill-informed about the quality of the college. Too many things were promised before joining but none of them were completely provided. Also during the time of admission, the ongoing batch gave positive reviews. The promising placements were enough to take admission in this college. Course curriculum: Course curriculum is like climate of the city. It changes each semester. 1st year had good subjects that were just as same as +2 subjects. After that upto 5th semester most of the core subjects were taught and some management subjects were there which had no role in an engineer's career. In 6th semester half of subjects were core and rest were like GOD KNOWS! what is being taught. In 4th year subjects are of no concern in any of opted branch. No one knows why we are studying such subjects. Overall in my opinion 3 years were enough to complete the engineering curriculum. Rest is just time waste. Faculty: Few of the faculty are just good, and rest of them feels like doing the job for a salary. Few of remarkable faculty already left the college and rest are just trying to cover loopholes in the college. Biju Patnaik University, Rourkela designs the course curriculum. The course structure keeps changing like each month. There are subjects which don't play any role in engineering but just defecating minds of students. Some faculty just feels irritating and holds students for 100 minutes of class by compulsion. The course curriculum has now gotten worse, and the improper timing has made it worse. The college has made each class of 100 minutes which is inefficient, sleepy and wastage of time of students. A 75% attendance criteria covers the faculty’s inability to teach and hold students interest in the subject. Later in senior semesters, the college is trying to convert logical and analytical students into industrial tools by emphasizing more on cracking interview for mass recruiters than providing core knowledge to students for longer and greater sustenance in industries. The college also doesn't support students effort in any way for doing something which a student likes. The college is just trying to manage their reputation behind the exploitation of young generative minds. Some rules, regulations and some other features of the college are harassing for students. Internship: Yes the college provides internship during the summer for 3rd year students. No student dares to do do internship in the college because of the extreme weather situation. One cannot stay for an hour during summer in the college. Stipend is promised to be 2500 for a month but who knows they will give the amount specified or not. Even without doing internship here I can guarantee if any one does an internship in college the experience will be worst. Placements & job opportunities: In the year 2016, this college was able to get 90% of the students placed, but later the placement percentage gradually decreased with a large slope each time. Later the college faced problems in calling the companies to the campus, and currently, the placements has gotten worse. The college seems to have lost the pace and quality. Gone are those days when NIST gave 85% placements. During 2017, only 25–35% students got placed in day-1 companies. Other companies don't take many students and/or don't give a good package. If getting placed is your concern and you're not extra ordinary, I would never suggest you NIST. Exam Structure: The exam structure has no role in getting marks from university. The structure has changed for 2 times since the last 2 years. No matter a student has the knowledge about the subject or not, you will be surprised to see that he/she gets excellent marks in semester exams. Some students prepare too much but still they don't get decent marks. Getting marks here is followed by 3 simple steps: Take the notes from teacher; Mug up the question banks; Write it in exams. Events: The college obviously has some events and fest that counts for 2 only in a year. The propaganda of the events are big, but the careless management system makes it the total waste. Too much corruption is also practised during these events. The event coordinators charges enough money from students (even students are forced to pay money whether they want to attend the event or not, also everyone is forced to buy the T-shirts and etc) but half or more than half of money goes into their pockets. Fee structure: In the OJEE brochure, the tution fee is stated as 55000 per year but as soon as you reach college it becomes 84000 magically. If you avail the hostel you will have to pay 140000 each year in which mess charge is not included. You have to pay mess charge 3000 each month (no matter you eat the food in the mess or not). You have to pay charges even if you are in a holiday and not residing in the college. In total, One student has to pay 176000 each year for nothing. Additionally you have to pay at the Gumti outside the college for food because you cannot eat the mess food. *Students are harassed for not paying the fee. They are not allowed to sit in exams if they have not paid the fee. They are marked absent in the class even if they are present for the same reason. The notice for payment is send to everyone's mobile even before the session is started. And for each month delay 1000 rupees is charged as fine. Hostel facilities and mess food: The hostel facilities are pathetic (For boys). You're crammed like a flock of sheep in rooms which always exceeded their capacity (In 2nd year, they made us stay 6 people in 4 seater room). You can imagine the level of congested environment we were forced to live in. The condition improved only after we reached final year. They charge you almost 3000/month for food which on somedays, you can't even look at it (except on Sundays). You get 2–3 pcs non veg every next day in dinner (fish/egg/chicken), with which you can swallow your rice/chapati (you can't chew it as it's so strong, like it is made from mixing Ambuja cement in the flour) . You can't complain about the food to anybody, because no matter what you say, the condition would remain the same (This is stated from Director, Dean, Administration) Mess fees is increased every year. Your only hope is Gumtis near hostel and college. Scholarship / loan facility: 2-3 Scholarships are facilitated in the college but most of them are for native odiya students. The students coming from other states has no benefit from these. Even this was promised before admission that tution fee waiver scholarship will be provided for every student who has merit marks in intermediate exams. But all was just fake advertising. Campus life: The campus is crowded with more than 4000 students violating the maximum limit of students in a particular branch for any college. The surroundings are greener and has little place for sports and events. Everyone, from a simple guard, hostel warden, to lab assistant thinks they are superior and would never miss a chance to make your life miserable. Alumni network: I have personally contacted to some of alumni but they only gave sort of negative reviews and they even didn't wanted to give credits to college or any faculty of college for their career. They said they had to manage everything by themselves. Their suggestions were quite helpful. Conclusion: Although college has got good reputation in Odisha and nearby states but only students studying here knows the actual situation. College has many positive things but when it comes to counting, negative things are highlighted first. I would not say that this college was never good but now it's condition is worst and its running because of it's previous reputation only. I would not suggest any student to come here and waste 4 precious years of life in this college.

i really love my college because u neber get bored!!Every other day, some or the other event is being organised by the difference clubs/societies of the institute in which either you can participate and win or watch and have fun. Here you can be a part of two greatest fests of south India, one being technical fest named TECHNOZION where you can enhance and test your technical skills though u don"t enjoy at home u can enjot at our college!! and talking about my college"s infrastructure is nice with good Wi-Fi connection, good hostel rooms, good classrooms(with and without AC facilities, if no AC, then fans in good condition) and AC labs. All other facilities are also good like medical, sports, library, entertainment, food, etc.

In this college the syllabus prepared for every branch is according to the current ongoing development in technologies providing the students an updated knowledge. Also in this college the grading system is done on absolute marking unlike the relative grading in other colleges, hence students need to put in more efforts to get good marks. Talking about faculties, in every branch there are many hardworking helpful and up to date with the current demands of the industries kind of faculties which is helpful for the students.

Hello,
No, you can not get admission in these colleges based on your jee mains obc category rank. However, you can expect admission in any private colleges through state counselling based on your jee mains category rank.
Good luck.
