    B.Des MBA or Bachelor of Design + Master of Business Administration is an integrated or dual degree course – a course that combines two different disciplines into one course – offered at the undergraduate level. B.Des MBA is a five-year course which is divided into ten semesters, two for every academic year. The primary coursework covers specialised subjects from the design and management field such as basics of design, HR management, marketing and more. If separately pursued, B.Des. takes four years while MBA takes two years. Thus, integrated B.Des. MBA saves one year.

    B.Des MBA Eligibility

    B.Des MBA course is only available in select institutes and specialisations so the eligibility criteria is different for different colleges/universities. However, some basic eligibility criteria for the course include-

    B.Des MBA Eligibility Criteria

    • A candidate must obtain a minimum 50 per cent marks in 10+2 or equivalent qualifying exam in any stream of subjects – Commerce, Science, or Arts and Humanities from a recognised education board.

    • An SC/ST candidate must obtain a minimum 45 per cent marks in 10+2 or equivalent qualifying exam in any stream from a recognised education board.

    • A candidate who has not passed the 10+2 or equivalent qualifying exam at the admission date is not eligible to apply for the course.

    • The maximum age limit to apply for the B.Des MBA course is 20 years for general category and 23 years for SC/ST/OBC category. For PWD, the maximum age limit is 25 years.

    • A certain number of seats are reserved by colleges/universities for the SC, ST, OBC, PWD and foreign candidates

    B.Des MBA Admission Process

    Step1: Candidates need to apply for the course in the university/college of their choice, fill the form and pay the necessary fee.

    Step2: Institutes will issue admit cards a few months after the application process is over. Applicants need to appear for the entrance exam on the date and location specified by the university/college.

    Step3: Next, the applicants are shortlisted for the personal interview and studio test based on their entrance exam performance.

    Step4: The university/college will release a merit list of the selected candidates for the B.Des MBA course. If selected, candidates need to report at the institute for document verification and pay the admission fee.

    To clear the entrance exams, aspirants need to understand the exam pattern. The entrance exams include creative aptitude as well as general aptitude test. For B.Des MBA entrance, candidates need to work on drawing skills. They can also solve the sample question papers to prepare for the exam better.

    B.Des MBA Entrance Exams

    B.Des. MBA integrated course is offered by only a few universities including Vivekananda Global University. Vivekananda Global University conducts its own entrance examination DE-CODE to provide admissions in B.Des. and B.Des. MBA integrated. Candidates who have cleared UCEED are also eligible for enrollment in B.Des. MBA programme.

    DE-CODE: Design Aptitude Test is known as DE-CODE. CODE stands for Centre for Design Excellence. It is a design institute affiliated to Vivekananda Global University Jaipur. It is conducted to offer admissions in B.Des. and B.Des. with integrated MBA courses.

    UCEED: UCEED stands for Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design. It is a national level design entrance examination conducted to provide admissions in design programmes. It is conducted by IIT Bombay. It is conducted in online mode. The duration of the examination is 3 hours.


    Generally, colleges/universities use the 10+2 exam scores for admission to the B.Des MBA course. Or else, colleges/universities use an institute level qualifying exam.

    B.Des. MBA Cut Off

    A cut off is the requirement of minimum marks or scores considered to determine the eligibility of candidates for enrollment in the programme. It is usually affected by the number of candidates appearing in the examination, total number of available seats and difficulty level of examination.
