BITS Design School, Mumbai conceived and established by the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani), is one of the first private institutes in India to be granted 'Institute of Eminence' status in 2020 by the Government of India. BITS Design School offers fully residential, 4-year-long, transdisciplinary Bachelor of Design (Honours) programmes. Courses offered by BITS Design School include B.Des Physical Product Design Hons, B.Des UI UX Hons, B.Des Human Centred Design Hons, B.Des Experience Design Hons and B.Des Visual Design Hons. Admissions to BDes (Hons) courses are through the National Institute of Design - Design Aptitude Test Prelims (NID‑DAT Prelims)/ IIT Bombay Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED)/ BITS Design Aptitude Test (BITSDAT) scores.
BITS Design School offers three types of scholarships which include Merit & Means Based Scholarship, Academic Merit Scholarship and Diversity Scholarship. Scholarships offered by BITSDES are mutually exclusive and cannot be combined. BITS Design School scholarships are reviewed and awarded annually based on the student's academic performance and conduct, attendance, and payment of tuition and residential fees. Considerations for BITS Design School scholarships will be accounted for after due evaluation of the student's application form and documents provided. Scholarships offered by BITSDES are mutually exclusive and cannot be combined. If a student qualifies for more than 1 type of scholarship, they will be offered the scholarship with the higher tuition fee waiver, but will not be offered the sum of two or more tuition fee waivers.
