Candidates are offered admission at the MAKAUT at UG, PG and doctoral levels. MAKAUT admissions are offered to its 15 courses namely B.Tech, M.Sc. M.Tech, etc. Admission to B.Tech programmes is offered through state level entrance examination- WBJEE. Candidates desirous of taking admission in M.Tech Bioinformatics, M.Tech Information Technology, M.Tech Industrial Engineering and Management, M.Sc. programmes must appear for Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET). Shortlisted candidates based on their performance in the entrance exam have to appear for a personal interview and candidates with valid GATE scores will be given preference. It must be noted that for M.Tech Biotechnology candidates need to appear for GAT- B conducted by Regional Centre for Biotechnology. The MAKAUT conducts an entrance exam for admission to Ph.D. programmes.
Candidates must visit the official website of MAKAUT- https://makautwb.ac.in. All candidates have to apply online.
Before applying for PGET, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria for PGET.
Candidates must select the mode of examination. Therefore, the university has all the rights to modify the manner- offline/online.
First, candidates must enroll themselves for PGET by providing a valid email address and phone number.
After successful enrollment, an email and SMS containing your PGET enrolment ID and password will be sent to candidates. This needs to be kept for future communications.
Candidates must fill the complete PGET application form with all the required details. Once filled, students can log in to their account with their login IDs and passwords.
The university offers two courses at the undergraduate level. B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering and B.Tech Information Technology are offered for MAKAUT UG admissions. Candidates have to appear for the state-level entrance exam- WBJEE for admission in B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering and B.Tech Information Technology at the MAKAUT.
Students must have passed 12th with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of the following - Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Computer Science/Computer Application as compulsory subjects in the qualifying examination.
Students need to meet the eligibility criteria to appear for WBJEE conducted by WBJEEB before filling up the application form.
Eligible students must fill the WBJEE application form.
When filling up the WBJEE application form, students must choose their preferred cities for exam centres.
Students can download the WBJEE admit cards in an online mode by entering their registration/application number.
Students can check the WBJEE result on the official website by entering their registration/application number.
A merit list will be prepared by WBJEEB and students whose names will be on the merit list have to participate in the counselling process.
An important note- 10% of the seats in all Self-financed and technology colleges will be reserved for JEE Main candidates.
Students who will qualify for the WBJEE cutoff can only participate in WBJEE counselling.
Last, WBJEEB will release the final seat allotment list in an online mode and students will be called for the document verification process.
In total, 12 courses are offered for MAKAUT UG admissions. Some of the courses offered for MAKAUT PG admissions are M.Tech Bioinformatics, M.Tech Information Technology, M.Tech Industrial Engineering and Management etc. Candidates have to appear for PGET to get admission in a postgraduate course at MAKAUT.
B.E./B.Tech. in Bio-Informatics I Bio-technology/ CE/ B.Pharm or M.Sc. In Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/ Bio Sciences obtaining a minimum of 60% or equivalent grade in the Q.E or equivalent.
B.E./B.Tech. in any branch of Engineering/Technology or equivalent with minimum of 60% marks in the Q.E or its equivalent.
B.E./B.Tech. in CSE/IT or M.Sc. in Computer Science/Computer Applications/Mathematics (with & Computer Science Specialisation), - MCA (with BCA or B.Sc. with Mathematics compulsory and any of the others from Statistics, Physics, Electronics or Computer Science) securing a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA of 6.75 of a seven-point grading system on a basis of 10.0 in the qualifying examination or its equivalent.
B.E./B.Tech. in ECE or M.Sc. In Electronics /Physics (with Electronics special) or equivalent* to B.E./B.Tech. Or B.E./B.Tech. In CSE or M.Sc. In Computer Science or equivalent and securing a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of 6.75 of a seven-point grading system on a basis of 10.0 in the qualifying examination or its equivalent.
Candidates must hold B.Sc. or equivalent degree from a recognised university with minimum qualifying marks.
Aspirants must check and fulfill the eligibility criteria before appearing WB PGET.
Eligible candidates are required to fill the WB PGET application form in an online mode.
WB PGET will be conducted in three cities of West Bengal and candidates must fill their two preferred cities at the time of filling the application form.
After successful submission of the application form, candidates will be issued PGET admit cards to appear for the exam in an online mode.
It must be noted that for M.Tech Industrial Engineering and Management students need to appear for personal interview and preference shall be given to GATE qualified candidates.
WB PGET result is released in an online mode. Students can check their results by entering their application number and password.
Candidates who will qualify for the final merit list only be eligible for PGET counselling.
The last step is document verification and payment of the course fee.
B.E./B.Tech. In Bio-technology, Chemical Engg or M.Sc. in BioChemistry/ Bio-Informatics /chemistry B .Pharm /Genetic Engg/ or equivalent with securing a of 60% marks or CGPA of 6.75 of a seven-point grading system on a basis of 10.0 in the qualifying examination or its equivalent.
Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria laid down by the Regional Centre for Biotechnology.
Eligible Candidates must fill the GAT-B application form.
The exam is conducted across 58 cities in India. Students must fill their preferred city while filling the application form.
Candidates who successfully submitted the GAT-B application form and had pay the application fee will be able to download the admit card in an online format.
GAT- B result is released in an online mode. It will be released in the form of scores, rank lists and merit lists.
Students must meet the eligibility criteria laid down by the university for M.Sc. Microbiology and M.Sc. Genetics.
Eligible students must fill the application form available on the website along with all the required documents.
Students have to appear for Common Entrance Test ( CET) for admission to M.Sc. Microbiology and M.Sc. Genetics.
Candidates must verify their documents and remit the course fee for final admissions.
Candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. minimum 55% marks or an equivalent CGPA in the qualifying examination of M. Sc in Natural/Applied Sciences/Biotechnology/Bioinformatics/Food Science/Microbiology or equivalent M.C.A or equivalent M.B.A or equivalent from a recognised university.

Two photographs (Passport size), one to be affixed on the form with the Principal Supervisor’s signature & seal and one without signature & seal to be attached (for use in the Ph.D. registration letter) with the application form.
