What is Social Sciences

Social Sciences - We all need to know about society and its developments and also understand the current political scenario of the country. And all these come under one subject of Social science. Most of us go for professional courses thinking they can get to know about everything by doing a professional job.

But the truth is you will be only able to know about the professional world. But by taking up the course in social science, you will be able to understand the psychological, political and societal changes that have occurred in human beings.

Social sciences are a branch that deals with the study of societies and the relationship between human beings and societies.

The subject includes an array of subjects like anthropology, archaeology, political sciencepsychology, media studies, History, management science, criminology, area studies, business studies, demography, economicsgeography, gender studies, education and sociology.

The aspiring candidate can either take up the course of Social sciences directly, or you can also take up one of the disciplines of the social sciences. There are two levels of the course of social sciences Bachelors in Social science and Masters in social sciences.

The Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences is of 4 years, and Masters have a duration of 2 years.

Every course has certain eligibility criteria which the candidate has to qualify to be eligible for doing the course and for doing the course of Social sciences there are certain eligibility criteria which are:

For Graduation

  • The candidate has to complete the 10+2 from a well-recognized board in the required stream.

  • He/she has to pass the 10+2 with a minimum aggregate of 50%.

  • Candidates who are holding baccalaureate in Diploma after +2 are also eligible for applying for this course. 

For Post-Graduation 

  • The candidate has to complete their degree from a well-recognized university in the required subject.

  • He/she should have a minimum aggregate of 50%

Entrance Exams for Social sciences

For doing the course in social sciences, most colleges and universities conduct entrance exams, and some colleges and universities and colleges have merit-based admission. Some of the entrance exams are:

HSEE – Humanities and Social science Entrance exam are conducted every year for students who wish to pursue the Bachelors and Masters in Social sciences.

Azim Premji university national entrance test – Azim Premji university national entrance test is conducted twice a year for students who wish to study Bachelors and Masters in Social sciences.

Scope of Social Sciences in India and Abroad

The students who take up the bachelors and masters in Social sciences have the opportunity to learn about society and people and their relationship with each other. There are many recruiters and vacancies available related to the subject in both government and private sector.

Candidates who complete their graduation and post-graduation in Social science have the scope of working in good government agencies and private companies with good pay. But the course aims to give candidates experience of knowing and serving society in a better way.

You can join NDA by taking the Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This exam is conducted twice a year in all major cities throughout India. For Air force NDA examination you have to study mathematics, general knowledge, physics and english. I think you know what subjects you have to study for this examination.
