From its inception in 2012, the Chandigarh University has now turned itself into one of the popular education hubs of north India. The university provides undergraduate and postgraduate level programmes in different streams such as engineering, law, arts, management, commerce and pharmacy.
Chandigarh University admissions are offered via two channels - Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) and merit of the last qualifying examination.
The application mode of Chandigarh University is both offline and online. The online application form of Chandigarh University is made available on the official website of the university, whereas for offline application forms the candidates have to walk up to the university admission offices or authorized centres.
The Chandigarh University admissions are conducted in three different phases, as per the convenience of the candidates. To aid students financially, the university also provides upto 100% scholarship for the top scorer of CUCET examination.
While the university offers a diverse range of programmes in various streams, the basic eligibility criteria of Chandigarh University remains the same for all the programmes.
For UG programmes, the candidates must have passed class 10+2 examination from a recognized board with a minimum of 50% marks.
Candidates who wish to take admission in PG programmes must have passed a bachelor's level programme from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks.
(Note - The candidates who are awaiting for their final year results are also eligible to apply for admission to their desired programme)
The CUCET entrance examination was initiated a year back to assess students based on their knowledge in the applied subject and analytical ability. CUCET is an entrance cum scholarship test. The idea behind the CUCET entrance test is to reward the meritorious students with a scholarship programme and assist them in providing affordable education.
While it is necessary for the candidates who are applying for B.E, B.Pharmacy, MBA, Integrated Law programs (BA+LLB, BBA+LLB, BCom+LLB) and B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture programme to appear in the CUCET exam, the candidates who have scored 90% marks in the last qualifying examination are exempted from the exam. The online examination is conducted in the various exam centres around the country. The total duration of the CUCET exam is two hours. The result of Chandigarh University (CUCET) is sent to the candidates through email on their registered email address and is also published on the official website of the university. The shortlisted candidates are invited for the counselling based on their ranking obtained in the entrance examination. To avail the scholarship benefits offered through CUCET exam, the candidates have to submit the 30% of total fees within 15 days of the declaration.
The candidates who do not wish to appear for the entrance examination can also grab a seat based on their last qualifying examination marks. However, they will not be entitled to the CUCET scholarship benefits. Such candidates need to fill up their academic details and other information required in the application form. A merit list will be released by the university based on the past academic performance of the candidates. The Chandigarh University merit list mentions the rank of the candidates assigned to them and their last qualifying examination marks. The qualified candidates need to visit the campus and complete the admission formalities. It must be noted that those candidates who have rank upto 50000 in JEE examination are also eligible for admission in BTech programme offered by the university.
Hello,
If you're planning to apply to Chandigarh University, the admission process is fairly straightforward and student-friendly. The university conducts its own entrance exam called CUCET (Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test), which plays a key role in both admissions and scholarships. While not all courses require CUCET for admission, it is highly recommended that you take it, as a good score can make you eligible for up to 100% scholarship on tuition fees, which can significantly ease your financial burden. The process typically involves registering for CUCET online, selecting your preferred program, taking the test, and then moving on to the counselling and fee payment stage if you qualify.
Hope this helps. All the best!
Choosing between Chandigarh University (CU) and Lovely Professional University (LPU) with a 30% scholarship at both requires a careful evaluation of multiple factors. In terms of placement and industry exposure, both universities are competitive, especially for Computer Science and related fields. CU has been attracting top recruiters like Microsoft and Amazon, and similarly, LPU maintains strong industry ties and offers students global exposure through partnerships and internships. When it comes to academics and infrastructure, LPU has a slight advantage due to its expansive campus, state-of-the-art labs, and innovation hubs. CU, while smaller, has shown impressive growth and offers a solid academic environment. From a logistical standpoint, both universities are located in Punjab, but CU’s proximity to Chandigarh city may make it more accessible. The cost of living is fairly similar in both areas. However, a crucial factor is your COMEDK result. If you expect a good score, waiting could open doors to top Karnataka engineering colleges like RVCE, BMSCE, or MSRIT, which often offer better placement opportunities and industry connections. If your COMEDK score is uncertain and you want to secure a seat early, LPU might be the more advantageous option due to its broader national reputation and infrastructure advantages. Ultimately, if your COMEDK score is promising, waiting is wise; otherwise, LPU is a solid choice with your current scholarship offer.
hey,
No, you cannot take admission in engineering course at Chandigarh University without appearing for CUCET. For courses like Engineering, MBA, Pharma, Computing, you have to appear for the CUCET exam.

I hope my answer helps!
Hii,
If you seek good placement, stronger professors, and more exposure, SRM is the superior option for BTech CSE with AIML. It has a large campus, many events, and major corporations come to hire. Chandigarh University (CU) is likewise good, although not as strong as SRM in terms of overall rankings and industrial partnerships.
Choose SRM if you can afford the tuition and want to improve your chances of landing a tech career. Choose CU if you want a low-cost choice with good quality. Both are private, but SRM is one step ahead.
