Bachelor of Design (Animation) also abbreviated as B.Des in Animation is a four year undergraduate programme where students learn about animation which is created nowadays with the help of computer generated software. Bachelor of Design Animation Admission
Students have to apply for the B.Des in Animation programme based on the merit of 10+2 examination from any recognised board. In addition to that, students also have to secure qualifying marks in any National level Entrance exam or College level Entrance Exam that is conducted to offer Bachelor of Design Animation admissions to various colleges of India.
Students seeking admission to NID need to appear and qualify for NID Design Aptitude Test (NID DAT) which is conducted by the National Institute of Design. Other major exams called Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) and Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) are also conducted to offer admissions to the B.Des Animation programme. Chitkara University also conducts an entrance test of its own called CUDAT to offer admissions to B.Des Animation programmes. Apart from this, there are several institutions which also offer Bachelor of Design Animation admissions through management quota or conduct an admission test of their own. NID Design AptitudeTest is conducted by the authorities of National Institute of Design. The exam is conducted in pen and paper mode. NIT DAT is conducted in two stages - prelims and mains. Students qualifying the preliminary exam of Bachelor of Design Animation, will also have to qualify mains to get final admissions to the programme. The exam is conducted once a year in English language and the duration is three hours. There are 10 participating colleges which come under NIT DAT and the total number of seats offered are 220 including B.Des and M.Des, out of which 125 seats are allotted to B.Des students including the reserved category.
Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design is conducted by the Symbiosis Institute of Design to offer admissions to B.Des programmes. The total intake of students through SEED is 207 including Indian and foreign nationals. It is conducted in computer based mode and the exam duration is 2.5 hours. There are a total of 150 questions and 1 mark is given for one right answer and no negative marking is there. Students qualifying the entrance exam also need to qualify a studio test and personal interaction round to get final admissions to the B.Des programme.
Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design is conducted by IIT Bombay to offer admissions to Bachelor of Design programmes. It is a national level examination which is conducted once a year. The exam is conducted in computer-based mode and in English language. The exam is conducted in two sections- Part A and Part B. Part A consists of 3 sections- numerical answer type questions, multiple select questions and multiple choice questions and in Part B the drawing skills of a student will be tested. There are a total of 300 questions. For multiple select questions, four marks are allotted to every correct answer and 0.19 marks is deducted for every wrong answer. For multiple choice questions, three marks are given for every right answer and 0.17 marks is deducted for every wrong answer. For numerical answer type questions, four marks are given for every right answer and no negative marking is there for this section. Part B consists of one question for which 60 marks is allotted.
B.Des in Animation Fees
The course fees of B.Des in Animation programme varies from one college to another. Government and private colleges or universities have different fees offering the programme. Different institutes have different course fees offering the programme. National Institute of Design offers the programme with a course fees of Rs. 1.2 lakhs per annum whereas Symbiosis Institute of Design offers the same programme with a course fees of Rs. 3.25 lakhs per annum.
