It totally depends on the number of candidates who have applied for the seat and their score. The trends can only give you a blurred picture as the marks and margin keeps changing every year. You haven't mentioned which exam you are talking about but this is common for all. You can wait for the 3rd round if you feel your marks are good enough but also make sure that you have a back up option.
