MTech is a postgraduate degree programme of two years in the field of engineering and one of the most sought-after courses among B. Tech and BE graduates. More than 2,500 colleges (private and public) offer admission to various branches of M.Tech programmes. Among these, around 2000 are private, whereas, the rest are public-funded institutions. Around 200 specialisations of M.tech courses are available in India in full-time and part-time modes. GATE is the popular national-level entrance exam for MTech admission, however, there are several other state/university-level exams also.

According to latest cut offs if one is applying for PSG Tech if he/she belongs to General category then there cut offs are 75-80. And if one belongs to SC/ST/OBC and other backward classe their cut offs are 33,25,20 and 35 respectively.
And for Anna University the cut offs will be above 65%.
