It is 40th percentile of the top NEET score and not of the total marks. So the 40th percentile depends on what the top score in NEET is. And this is called cut off. And cut offs change every year. Cut offs change every year depending on various factors such as no.of Candidates appearing for the exam, no.of Candidates qualified, top NEET score and difficulty of the exam. In 2019, the top NEET score was 701 and so the 40th percentile was 107-133. It was 15 marks greater than the 2018 cut off . It was 118-96 in 2018. So it totally depends on the top NEET score. This year as well as AIIMS and JIPMER also will be conducting admissions on the basis of NEET and Candidates have had more than 4 months in additiob to prepare for NEET, the cut offs might fluctuate towards more or less 15-20 marks.
