Admission dates for Class 8 (2026-27 session) depends on the type of school (Government, Private, or Kendriya Vidyalaya).  Check the admission dates of different schools

1. Kendriya Vidyalaya (KVS)

For Class 8, admissions depend on the availability of vacancies in the specific school.

• Registration Dates: Expected to begin in April 2026.

• Process: Admissions for classes 2 to 8 are usually done offline. You must visit the specific KV school to collect and submit the application form.

• Selection: Based on a priority category system (central govt employees, etc.) and a lottery if applications exceed seats. There is no entrance test for Class 8 in KVs.

• Age Limit: The child should be between 12 and 14 years old as of March 31, 2026.

2. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV)

JNVs only offer "Lateral Entry" for Class 9. They do not have a standard admission process for Class 8, as their main entry points are Class 6 and Class 9.

3. CM Shri Schools (Delhi Govt)

If you are in Delhi, the admission process for specialised excellence schools is active:

• Registration Deadline: Extended to March 25, 2026 (for Classes 6 and 9).

• Admission Test: Scheduled for the last week of March 2026.

4. Private Schools ( CBSE / ICSE )

Most private schools across India started their admission process between December 2025 and February 2026.

• Current Status: Many schools are in their "Final List" or "Waitlist" phase (concluding by March 19-31, 2026).

• Late Admissions: Some schools still accept applications in March if seats are vacant. You should check the websites of specific schools in your city immediately.

• Age Criteria: Generally, the child should be 13 years old by March 31, 2026, though some boards/states allow 12+.

5. RTE (Right to Education) Admissions

For families eligible under the EWS/DG category for free seats in private schools:

• Indore/MP: Registration is open from March 13 to March 28, 2026.

• Delhi: The lottery for EWS admissions is processed in March/April.
