It is considered to be almost same but yes there is a little difference in both the courses like in b.E the courses till the 8th end sem is little less but that doesn't mean it is very less. It is like 2-4 courses are more in b.tech degree . But it is almost same for the core part of your branch. There may be some differences in electives.
