I can totally understand the confusion when faced with such a choice and we have no clue about what we want to do and what subject we would come to like or dislike in the coming years. Just letting you know that is the best case scenario, always better than pretending to be super sure of what career you want to pursue (mostly out of peer pressure)

Make your choice based on:

- your average performance to interest ratio in the subject

what i mean by that is you have too look at two factors - what your average performance has been in one of the main subjects (math and biology) and how interesting do they seem to you.

what this will accomplish is that it will give you an idea of how you scale in that subject as of now and whether you have the motivation, drive, interest, whatever you want to call it, to improve further when the subject gets tougher.

So if you are weak in math but really would like to learn it well then you can show improvement.

- D o not choose the subject for the sake of a career option:

some people thing in this angle - "i want to work in a big IT firm like Google but i suck at math, i should bear with it for a few years, complete my engineering, then do MBA and then work at my dream IT job"

this line of thinking is severely flawed and you should not go in that direction. If you choose for the sake of choosing then you will struggle, a lot.

- never limit your options:

most students like you, who are not sure of what they want to pursue, opt for math or bio because they are the so called 'toppers subjects", please be smart about it, commerce and arts are also great alternatives, do not give in to the pressure from friends or family regarding your choice of subject. Most parents won't let their kid study arts in high school because as per their understanding arts is not a lucrative field. which brings me to my next point:

- no subject is worthless and no subject is enough on its own:

what i mean here is that, for example- you pursue arts and everyone around you gets anxious about your decision, concerned about your future job prospects. keep in mind that this is not 1970-80, in this day and age, a single subject never defines a person's career - so even if you take arts you have very many choices later- like CLAT (law), DU (arts and sciences), business studies, etc.

bottom line is_

before choosing:

- research on career options and find out what fascinates you

- talk to some people from that field and learn the realities

- think and make notes on a paper about what you like and what you would not get bored of afterwards

- get professional career counselling if needed

even after all this, if you feel like the choice you made wasn't right, don't fret - you can always upgrade. take your time, don't rush it.

In order to pursue any program or course after 10th, make sure you choose the right stream or program wisely as your decision will affect your career. Anyways, coming to the point. The courses you can do after 10th are as follows-

• +2 PUC, in short +2 in Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities.
• Diploma in engineering streams
• ITI courses
• Certificate courses
• Other vocational courses
