Airfield Operations Specialist is a designation in which the officer is in charge of all operations on an airport's airfield. The minimum eligibility for this field is an associate's degree or apprenticeship.This job has different kinds of responsibilities. Airfield Operations Specialist inspects all airport areas, which includes hangers, runways, and fuel storage areas for compling with airport and Federal Aviation Administration safety regulations. Specialists make sure airfield safety by observing weather conditions, maintenance work, wildlife activity, and runway conditions. Air-Traffic Control and Airfield Operations Specialists coordinate the arrival, departure, refueling, parking, and loading of an aircraft. Other duties of this job includes using radios to direct emergency response units and offering first aid at the time of airfield emergencies.
