There were two significant characters during the rule of Harshavardhana.


a) Banabhatta was a writer in Harsha's court. He composed 'Harshacharita' a memoir of Harshavardhan with nitty gritty record of the occasions driving upto his ascent of force. It was written in Sanskrit language. He additionally composed a dramatization called 'Kadambri'.


b) Hiuen-Tsang a Chinese explorer visited Harsha's court, composed a book 'Shi-Yu-Ki' (the universe of the west) in the wake of returning to China. Alongside Harshavardhan Hiuen-Tsang in his book likewise applauded two different rulers Narsimha Varman of Pallava administration and Pulkesin II of Chalukya tradition. The Harshavardhana was an Indian emperor who belongs to Varsha Dynasty.

After the downfall of the Gupta empire , the north and northwest partitioned into different small regions. To unite these region one of the ruler of Vardha dynasty, Prabhakar Vardhana took incharge and became the first ruler of Vardha dynasty ruling over North region. After the death of the ruler Rajya Vardhana took the throne and Harshavardhana took over after the death of his elder brother Rajya Vardhana.
