Chemical engineers have a very good opportunities to work in 5 maharatna companies like iocl, ongc, coal india, GAIL, SAIL OUT OF 7 (REST 2 R NTPC and BHEL).
If u will see the number of chemical graduated people per year and requirement of chemical engineers in different companies then this ration will be far better than other branches.
Apart from this chemical engineeers may work in designer companies like EIL, LINDE, L&T.
Chemical engineers has also very good chances to work with  HUL, BPCL, HPCL, Vizak Steel, NFL,Iffco, Kribhco, asian paint, HPL, petro chemical industries.
A person may also make his carrier as a  proffesor.
chemical engineers can work as a production, process, process safety, instrumentation and research type job. Only we have to give some respect and have interest in chemical engineering.. and a very good job will be with us with lesser pain than other engineering branches of-course with handsome salary.In reality, it has a very good scope in India at least.

If you are studying in premier institute like iits nits then there is a good scope and good core jobs too 

Dr reddys and several labs recruit chemical engineer.

Also you can enter software jobs too .
