Hi,
Aspirin can be obtained by reaction of CH3COCl with salicylic acid.
Aspirin is also named as acetylsalicylic acid.Salicylic acid is aromatic compund having COOH group and OH group in 1,2 position on the benzene ring.
When salicylic acid reacts with CH3COCl the phenol group on the ring attacks the carbonyl carbon of CH3COCl the Cl group is leaved forming acetylsalicylic acid that is aspirin.
Hope it helps.
