accordig to me, this is depends upon the company to company because every company has their own rules and regulations , and sets of policies so this is not sure that they will give you job location preference if the comapny will provide you so they will ask you at the time of interview if not so they will not ask you

Whether a preference is given or not really depends from company to company. You might not really have a choice because the HR would have asked you if you are willing to relocate during your interview.

A lot of companies do ask for preferences.
