At the time of admission or counseling they will see your overall rank and your category rank if you belong to one.

If you are asking for the time of placements then they will consider only your branch rank.

If you have done in your core subjects that is enough for them.

We understand your concerns. However for your assistance, we might be able to help you better if the information about the college and entrance would be specified. If you are particular about counseling procedures of state cet's or JOSSA,  the counseling takes place depending upon your rank, and your category is considered if there are certain seats reserved for category in the branch. Overall, the availability of total seats in the particular course also plays an important role for admission.
