After doing B.Tech if you want to take admission in IITs then you have to clear the gate exam.
After passing Gate exam, you can get into an IIT. It all depends upon the rank of the gate exam. So, if you're planning to choose an IIT for higher studies you have to clear the gate exam first, and your rank should be good then only you are eligible for this  colleges.
