can a govt employee (central or state) invest in stocks market??

Hello Rahul,

While there is no absolute ban on trading by government employees but there are lot of restrictions. These are -

* According to CCS rule 1964, the frequent sale or purchase of share is banned.

* You can't invest in the share if you are either involved in the IPO/FPO process as the government officer are getting their shares in management or director quota.

* According to CSS rule 1964 ,If the total transaction in share exceeds your two months basis pay, the same needs to be intimated to the government within the month of transaction.

* Intra day is banned as it hampers the official duties.
