Students enrolled in private schools (even those affiliated with the Punjab School Education Board - PSEB) are not eligible for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS).

According to the official guidelines from the Ministry of Education and the Punjab state education department, the scholarship is specifically designed for students from economically weaker backgrounds who are studying in:

  • Government Schools

  • Government-Aided Schools

  • Local Body Schools (such as those run by municipal corporations)
